Your turtle looks like a turtle and your doing just fine! It might be a good idea to gather
as many reference pics as you can and study the forms, at least that's how I do it!
good luck with your concept, it looks very interesting!

Hahaha! The turtle is so funny! :D
I can really imagine that crazy "Inventor-turtle" trying to prove
to the world that he can fly - free as the birds. I'm nuts about your idea.
and now for the crits (albeit a bit late):
- The background is out of place, both colorwise and detail wise
(yes - even if DOF / blurred). It looks like it's hand-dabbed with
a wacom pen ..quickly, while the turtle looks really cool and detailed.
- The turtle neck look too "square", needs to be a bit more roundish ;)
- The wings needs some more "detailing" to them, scratches! Like
he has tried this a "few-times...he he". Eventually some tears'n'ripps.
- The rock texture looks flat and odd, maybe you could "model" the
rock so it doesn't look like a flat texture slapped onto a simple mesh?
But again - I really LIKE your idea and if you worked the image over
(yeah - there's still time...I'm pretty late on my submission too)
you could do wonders on this.
Hope I wasn't being too harsh, I'm honest and straightforward.

I like your idea...
It would be better if you spent more time on your modeling.
Good luck guy.
