View Full Version : Paint problem - Reveal black strokes and strokes turn off and on
Dalaran AW 04-28-2006, 03:44 AM Hi there...
We are working on a production with a buncha paint artist doing wire removals. Now we all have the same problems that occur now and then and it seems pretty random.
We are revealing from other frames to remove wires. Now sometimes when were almost done all of a sudden we get black paint strokes. We have the newest update of combustion and still does this strange thing occur.
Another problem were having is that sometimes reveal-clone-paint strokes seem to go off. So what you have just painted 20 frames ago is suddenly back again. When you touch that stroke again with the paint tool, it pops away again.
Can anybody clear this up, or has a work around for this.
Thanx,
Dalaran AW

Hi,
What is your source set to? its either current or you can choose an actual layer.
Try changing it from current to the actual original footage or first operator below your paint layer which you are using for the reveal strokes.
It could be that if it is set to current that its seeing the paint strokes rather than the footage, so its actually trying to paint in black from your paint layer.
the other problem im not sure about

you're not the only one. i have told autodesk about this promblem and pierre told me that it would be fixed in the next patch which was 4.0.3. guess what it wasn't. he told me about some stupid work around that i couldn't believe to hear. he said to avoid the black paint strokes try painting 50 strokes and then start another paint op.
that is the most retarded thing that i have ever heard. sometimes thier support team don't give the best answers, because they are not users. i hope they read this.

He guys...
Thanks for you replies. The problem is indeed anoying and it is the most absurd workaround. Autodesk should do something about this.
But none of you guys ever had the problem where strokes start dissapearing visually. And when you try to correct that it suddenly shows up again. So wire is gone at frame 50... I continue working until 60. I go back to 50 and the wire is back again. It try to remove it again with reveal and at the moment I touch it it pops away again.
Thanx.
