View Full Version : Rendering problem see image
im getting this half textured/rendered image when i render from this angle,
its a poly object with procedural textures.
i dont have a clue why this is happening and needless to say is giving me a headache.
i tried playing with normals but no good.

just in case you miss the problem the checkered texture should extend over this black patch^
ps this textbox does not show right with my firefox.

can't say i've ever seen this particular one. my first thought is that maybe something is clipping the camera plane at that edge. i don't imagine you have any geometry along there, do you?
moving the floor a couple decimal places in different directions, and see if that works. if that doesn't work, try assigning a different shader/material to the problem object(s) and see if that helps. firefighting renders can be a tedious and painful process, because many of the problems don't make sense at all.

I've seen this problem in the later Maya versions, it seems as if the renderer clips part of the surface regardless of the clipping plane settings.
Why it does this I don't know, but try adding some polygons or make a nurbs plane instead and the problem should go away.

I have had a similar problem before when I was rendering. I am not sure of the specs of your project but in my situation, the plane that was being blacked out like that was just to big it seemed. I cut the plane a few times(It was huge plane) and it seemed to fix the problem.

I'm curious as to why that grey wall looks like it has a soft normals on the bottom edge. Did you extrude the wall from the floor? If you had, just create a new plane for the floor and a new cube for the wall and place them in the same positions as before. Then hide the old floor and wall. Otherwise I don't know.

Try changing the scale of your scene. Make it way bigger I guess. Then dble-check camera clipping planes.
