View Full Version : Still Life: Fabric and Vase
Created in Lightwave. A layered procedural shader is used for the loose brushwork on the vase. The fabric map was prepped in photoshop and layered in LW. The plugins Wavefilter, gMil, unReal Toontracer and FI_Patchy were incorporated. Interpolated Radiosity was set at 2 bounces, 3x9, threshold 0.25, and the renders are pretty fast.

I don't know if it's the texture or the compression, but your vase is looking a little blurry. So it's tough to tell what the vase is supposed to be made out of. If you made the vase really beautiful, interesting and clear, it would be a nice piece.

Thanks for your reply, Akildee.
The vase is blurry for a purpose: to emulate a loose brush technique in oil. Making something sharp is easy in 3D. I also wanted to contast the texture of the fabric with a rough, simple vase.
The 40k limit on the board means I can't show you the full res file, but the render has subtleties which look plausibly like brushstrokes. Here is a 1:1 detail:
