I know Max8 can create VRML files, and panorama movies. The thing is neither are an Object Movie (http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/gallery/qtvr17.html).
According to Apple (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/QuickTime/InsideQT_QTVR/3Chap/chapter_4_section_5.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40000944-CH207-TPXREF119), special software is needed to do it. Some of these softwares are: QuickTime VR Authoring Studio, VR PanoWorx, and Widgetizer.
However, it would be understandable that Apple would only list software they do/sell as an example of what programs do an Obj Mov. That leaves a window of chance that maybe, just maybe Maya 7 does it too.
