View Full Version : practice head
TheIvIaxx 04-27-2006, 06:07 PM this isn't anyone in particular, just practicing i guess. I would like to know how to make her more attractive though.
Also, are there any good tutorials on making hair with planes, similar to what reiv does?
Thanks

Great exercise with a good result !
Maybe what could make her more attractive is a less 'long' head and some tweaking on the mouth and lips, but I know that is very hard to just get that natural sexy look, I tried it myself and failed :) Also, maybe the ears look a little bit too flat (too close to the head)

nice model you have there :)
tips on making her more attractive is really up to yourself.. use your eyes and you'll get there.
the mouth looks great and so do the eyes, only thing that sticks out at me is the nose, it's kinda small and doesn't really match the face. if you take a look at random pics of women, they don't have such tiny noses, so maybe just scale it up some and adjust the bridge to match.
the ears idea is also good, just bring them out a little and maybe an adjustment on the forehead area... bring the top forward a little, heads don't really smooth back like that, other than that, it's looking very promising... can't wait til textures :)

about the nose, i actually scaled it down because it didn't look right :) I will use the old scale. The ears were rough, kind of a botched job. I will work on those a bit more and bring the forehead forward a bit. As for textures, i hadn't planned on it. maybe, but this is mainly a modeling excercise and i hate unwrapping :scream:

Hehe, UV stuff isn't so hard nowadays, pelting makes life so much easier. You can always try this...

It's a program I ran across a while back, works nicely on any model. They have a free version you can use... Fraternaware Version [weird name]. This version only supports up to 1000 triangles, which sux. When I found it, it was completely free :) I still have the file on my drive. I'm like a resource fiend, I find everything I'm looking for, sooner or later. Hope it helps :)

hey, great start. her ears needs to look less flat. i think if you look at pictures of women you'll see what features make them attractive. you can use one as a reference just to see where everything is placed. also pay attention to the five point poly faces on your model. looking forward to your next post.

I think the head is ok but you should focus special attention to the ears. I think they are small and too close of the head. But it is a good start. Good luck in your project.

ok, i took some steps back, forward, back, and am now at this point. I got some help on the proportions and i think they look ok. However, when i view it in perpective, it looks like crap. Maybe too thin, not too sure what it is missing or needs to change. This is a very humbling exercise  any and help is welcome

Here is something that I found a while back when I was looking for the same type of info.

You can take a look at their samples and their whole explanation for the face mask theory. I think they prove most of it, but no person fits 100% with the mask, so the main thing, which is easy in 3d modeling, is symmetry. The rest lies on proportions and distances of the features on the face itself. Good luck

thanks for the link. my friend had mentioned fibonacci to me earlier, totally forgot about it :) Anyhow, here are updates. Things i'm going to work on are the ear connections and head shape. Any other crits are welcome. Still not sure how to make her attractive though.

the chin looks strange to me, try making it straighter, right now the shadows are making it strange.
