hi all
i need some help with nurbs surfaces ,the surfaces i have created seam to be apart and i cant fix it , i have this prob in all kinds of nurbs surface , here is an example

Select all the surfaces and hit #3 on your keyboard. Nurbs have display resolutions in the shaded view, 1, 2, and 3.

Also trim convert the top and bottom surface because the round tool makes trimed surfaces(purple surface). Then you have to worry less about the edges not matching in the software renderer and less messing with the tesselation to get it to look good.

thanks beaker but i have tryed that befor posting this thread

my first post was only after you posted the first few images, so I didnt have all the info, just ignore that one. Just do the trim convert I suggested in the second post.

Hi Cgg :)

This is not Really a problem ...
when using round tool , round tool makes a New Surface with Trimming between Selected Edges

How to Bypass ...
in Display ... increase Crv precision Shaded in AEditor (Slowdown your Env)

in Render ... increase Surface Tessellation in AEditor or in Rendermenu >> Render >> Set Nurbs Tessellation

Try using surface fillet insted round tool or make that roundness Manual ...

how do i trim convert ?
hehe sorry ...im a noob

...mmm you can not trim convert THIS geometry ... I think !
for use Trim Convert Option in Rebuild Surface Section ...
you need a four boundary Trimmed Surface ... Not like this one ...

But if you are using maya 4.5 ...
Try convert it to Sub-D and Again Sub-D to Nurbs ...
But Result maybe unpredictable .

well....i guess round tool suck, ill use fillet for this kind of stuff .
thank you for the help guys :buttrock:

Trim convert will work just fine.

ccg: Trim convert is an option in the Edit Nurbs > Rebuild Surface.

No round tool is fine, I was just suggesting trim convert because it will make a cleaner surface so you dont have to mess with the tesselation of the surface to get trimmed surfaces to match. You want to try to use untrimmed surfaces whenever you can. For more understanding of what you were trying to do earlier with the tesselation, you need to read this:
http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/tutorials/tesselation/tesselation.html
It explains more about getting your tesselation to match between surfaces with the advanced tesselation options.

can you give an example for this kind of action? plz?

Hey, Beaker ...

can you show me how you can Trim Convert Surfaces like Cgg Surface ?

to Cgg :
And I think Trimmed Surfaces are more Problematic, I Try to Avoid Trim Surface beacuse they Slowdown Rendering and you haven't enough control over them.
trims actually do not reduce ultimate geometry though, so often it is useful to create the trimmed surface, then use DUPLICATE CURVE to pull the profile curves, and then loft
or birail if possible.

Edit Nurbs > Rebuild Surface

Pick the trim convert option in there. It will take your surface and make it an untrimmed surface out of it. The surface just has to have 4 boundries in order for it to work. The seam of the surface will work for boundry #3+4.

thanks again ill try it

#EDIT#
the best results i got by trim converting 1st and 2nd surfaces and align+attaching them [curvature] with a small tangent scale 0.2
and here is the result

thanks guys
if there will be some update ill let ya know

"ctrl+A" to render Tesselation

well instead of rebuilding the surface, you could also just leave the circles that you used to loft with and then delete the messed up surface, and just do a loft from the cirle to the round tools surface's isoparm...dunno if you understand what I mean. But it works here
