Always there will be the gnomes, preferring to spend time in the nearest tavern.
Travel to the far countries and heavy work not for them.
In this figure just pair such gnomes.
How you consider such work corresponds to a theme of competition?

Gnomes are great.... I like how your concept has a fun and happy connotation to it. It lets the audience decide where the journey really is. Will it be the tavern or will be work? Maybe you can hint the answer in a subtle way. Good luck.

To time remains very little, therefore we start to model the first character.
If during modelling will come in a head how beautifully to correct a stage it will be good.

I like the concept. I think it would interesting to emphasize one direction more than the other, or a bit more of the conflict between the two. Your character model looks good!

The basic modelling of the first character is finished, there were fine details which will finish model. We prepare and adjust materials for model.

We continue to be engaged in textures for the gnome, on mine all is not too bad, except for that that almost does not remain to time. And the second character and an environment is necessary for me still.

Well, I have not time to execute initial idea, therefore I change the concept of figure. The sloven-gnome, tries to run away in the big travel from the comrades.
For this purpose it wishes to use a cart passing past.

Hi,

To time at me does not remain, and here still as to spite I was ill :(
On it processing by effects minimal:
- I add a road dust
- DOF - on a background.
That I have time to make this all, and it would be desirable to add in a stage the second character and to hang up on a back to our hero a lute.

Thanks, all who visited this WIP
And success to all participants of competition :)

At gnomes as well as at people different ways to lives. There are hardworking gnomes, and there are idlers, is clever and not so...
The protagonist of this picture does not choose in a life of complex ways and difficult problems. Now it tries to run away on a passing cart from the comrade with which went for work. It will run to go to the next big travel. This gnome does not wish to work in dark and gloomy mines, in fact the world such huge and interesting, in it is a lot of light and heat. In the big world, where it aspires, many roads and different ways, much greater cities, it is a lot of taverns and cheerful songs. The gnome not for the first time sends in big travel, at it is experience and a few success (it always came back home alive of the travel and told to young gnomes interesting histories about the adventures). We shall wish our traveller of good luck!

I am glad, that you liked my work. Now I regret only that has late learned about this competition and has begun work above a picture only on April, 25th. On creation I had only one month.
I think, that if has begun work in February would achieve the best results.
Success!:buttrock:

Congratulations on completing the project under a short period of time. I have no doubt that you can improve on the image if you had more time and I suggest you take your time finish it to the level that you'll be happy with. You can always use it for you portfolio. I think the new concept is better than your first one.
A couple of things.... You can probably chose a better sky back ground. One with more clouds to make it lively. And randomize the sun flowers... different sizes and age to add realism to the scene. Just paying attention to small details will add so much to an already well composited image. Great job.

Hey Anatoli! Hope to see more of your fun interesting work in a future Challenge! You accomplished quite a lot given the time constraints and would have been wonderful to see the second character you were working on in the scene! Really fantastic fun modeling for just under a month! Phenomenal job! Look forward to seeing more in the future! Cheers!

Hi, Lin, Eric Machmer
I completely agree with your remarks if I have learned about competition on couple of weeks earlier I think would achieve the best results in the work, but that that is made - that is made!
It is really necessary to diversify plants for back and the foreground and certainly clouds.
Should tell that it is my second picture for the static image, on the basic work I am engaged in dynamic advertising rollers.
My problem was that I was ill during competition and has lost 5 more days from one month which at me was, except for that at me the daughter was ill, the operational system on my computer (I have lost some the important files) has failed and it was necessary to go for the basic work.
-Lin - Thanks for criticism and an estimation. :)
-Eric Machmer - Thanks for a good estimation of my work.:)

HI! :wavey:

Great work for the challenge, for the critical remarks, and IMHO, i like a lot the modeling and the texture, if it was me i will only add 1 more plan in the background, behind the second characters. Some village, merge with the sky color, to show that it is far, something like that, also colorated a little the plants and the end of the road, in the sky color too, just a little to make it less flat, but like i said, it's only my opinion.
Anyway you can be proud of your image, it's a good work. I hope to see some of your next works soon.

Keep this way!

Ok, I got your message that you wanted some comments on your work, thanks... :) I'll try to help if I can. I like the basic idea of the image, a naughty little gnome running away from something, looks fun... It's also technically a huge job to model 2 characters and so much environment, you did a great job in such a short time.
The thing I would comment on is the lighting mostly I guess, it seems there aren't any very strong shadows anywhere. It's hard to explain without overpainting, if you like you can submit your image to my overpaint thread (see my sig below) and I'll paint on it, show you better what I mean.
Good job though, keep it up. :D

Hallo,
Good modelling, expecialli the people, the only thing it's about the lights, it could be better if you use some kind of Global illumination, it give to all the scene a more realistic smooth look.
It's only a little thing, over all i think that your is a Good job.

Best regards

Hi,
Many thanks for critical comments from professionals!:) I liked ideas on:
1. To volumetric illumination.
2. To an additional background with rural small houses.
Thanks, once again.
If you have still a criticism and interesting offers, shall be glad you to listen:bounce: .
