View Full Version : trackview in a viewport ? no more ?
Gumtoo 01-03-2003, 11:52 AM well, since max 5 is out i mostly did some modeling.
now i'd like to animate and set my old viewport layout
(a large trackview on top and a user & a camera right under)
but it seems that max don't alow to put a trackview in a viewport anymore !! :thumbsdow
do i have to stuck with the trackview that automatically fit on the down part of the screen ?
did i miss something ?

It looks like you can no longer use Track View in the viewports, but there's still a way to (sort of) get what you're after. Open up a trackview, right-click on its titlebar and choose Dock->Bottom (bottom is the only available option). This will put the full track view at the bottom underneath the trackbar. It's not the same as the curve editor that pops up there; this one is actually the full trackview with all tracks and the ability to view in curve or dopesheet mode :)
If you want, you can then dispense of the trackbar (it's kinda redundant at this point) by entering trackbar.visible = false into the MAXScript listener (change the value to true to bring it back).

thx for your answer LFSHADE,
this is quite strange to take away something that was very handy since this was an option , not something that could anoy some user...
it was probably redundant, for MAX coders, with the new ability of the trackview to fit the dock bottom way...
i can get used to it, but for me it's a step back since when you want to maximise your viewport the trackview stay there and then you can't get a full maximisation. it was great also with the ability to resize manually the VP layout to be able to see a bit more of the trackview when needed (the dock way don't alow any resize)
i really hope they'll but it back in the next update...
MR DISCREET ?! do you hear me ?
