hmmm, that's strange. some of the pics i posted disapeart... i probably will get banned for posting this much junk.. as it seems, i can't upload any more pictures. instead the old once keep getting replaced randomly. so if you want more pictures, contact me. i'll send them via email to you :)

okay, this is molly, spike's girlfriend. she doesn't have as much faceposes, as she doesn't have so sing. she just has to look cute and shy. :) haven't done the poses for her eyebrows yet... that's what's coming next...

who's been busy then? cool.

nice stuff especially after seeing the help you gave users on face rigging any chance you can post some animation stuff?

keep posting....then c4d will either get pushed off the forum or we'll get our own server! :buttrock:

thanks flingster! i'll hopefully be able to post the entire movie when it's done in february. that is if i can find a server that will not ruin me financially with the traffic. the low-res-version (320x172) is already 300 mbyte. the first 82 seconds which are already done occupy 5 gig on my harddisk :argh: (dvd-resolution, rendered as tifs)

maybe i'll be able to post some stills of the movie by the end of the weekend.

if you wanna see four more pics of spike, you can check out www.geocities.com/cosmicbear73/ it's not much and i haven't updated in weeks, but there ya go. that's all i can offer for now. :D

deadline for the movie is feb. 20th (if my computer doesn't burst into flames before...)

how long has it taken you so far? etc. sounds like its a final year grad project....did you get yourself a job in london then?

laters bud....keep up the good work.

well, i'm sure, i'll be able to get a version that's smaller. the low-res-version is a quicktime-movie with animation-compression with 100% and the sound is 22kHz, 16 bit, stereo, so still lots of room for getting it smaller :)

the original idea is based on the question 'does the light go off then the fridge-door is closed?' at first i wanted to have a party going on in the fridge, but while listening to some songs from the 60s 'stand by me' by ben e. king popped up and the first line 'when the night is come and the land is dark and the moon is the only light we'll see..' just stayed in my mind. so i listened to the song a couple of times and got some pictures in my head. :)
so the answer to the question is: fridge-door open = daytime, fridge-door closed = nightime. so as soon as the fridge-door is closed, the lightbulb goes from sunlight to moonlight. spike is singing the song to molly, his beloved tomatoe. so instead of a party going on in the fridge, in the end it turned out to be a love story.

i knew right from the start that the lead-actor would be a tomatoe, poor molly on the other side had to go through lots of different shapes. in the original version, she was a sandwich, then a cucumber before she also reached her tomatoe-stage. :)

there were also a couple of other actors (aubergine, milkbottle, eggs, cheese, etc.) but they all ended up being just props, as the focus of the story went more and more towards the love-story between the two tomatoes.

and yes, you're right, flingster, it's my graduation-project for college. well, at least it's a part of it. the entire graduation-project is the movie (ca. 4min 30 sec.), teaser and trailer for the movie, (maybe a trailer for part 2) the making off, an ad-campaign for the movie and the corporate design for the movie-publisher. the movie, the trailers and the making off will be presented on dvd.

the first time we met for a brainstorming was about a year ago, but i've been working full-time on it for the last four month. it took us about six month to get the final story (not fulltime! :) ). it's actually a two-men-project. i'm doing this project with a friend from college together. he's modelled most of the props, while i have modelled the actors and have done the animation. we did the texturing, lighning, etc together most of the time.

and no, i haven't got myself a job in london yet, but i'm in contact with three agencies over there. and even if i don't get a job, i'll give england a try. it doesn't have to be london for me, but i do want to move to england :) so any jobs offerings are very welcome HE HE HE

 LOL i actually had the same thought in the beginning. but surprisingly that already has happened. it's a funny (okay, not so funny to me) story:

i'm enrolled on a small college near Hannover, Germany. you can study graphic art and design, color design, industrial design, metal design, interior design and likewise at this school.
in Hannover itself is a college, that offers the same range of classes.

the guy i'm doing the movie with talked to a friend of his and told her a little about the plot and the actors. her reply was 'oh, didn't someone do a movie with tomatoes in a fridge last year at the college in hannover?'

we both were really shocked when we found out that six month ago someone already had a tomatoe-fridge-movie. and on a college, that's not even 20 miles away. at this point there was no turning back for us, as to restart a new project would have ment for us to spend another six month in college (which neither one of us is able to afford nor willing to do!) so we tried to get some information about the movie or a copy of the movie itself. what we found out is, that the plot of the other movie is about tomatoes that run wild in the fridge and shot everything that's in it. so quite different from our storyplot. :surprised :

i haven't actually seen this movie, but are really eager to get a copy of it to be honest.

our biggest concern now is, that someone will say 'oh, you got the idea from that other movie' which is not true at all! i swear on my computer and the entire stack of backup-cds from the movie, that i've never heard of that movie when we started to develop 'stand by me'

so you see, flingster, the horror-movie-sequel is out of the question. actually, i'm kinda stuck on 'singing' right now, after i've spent about two month on figuring out how to write a dope-sheet and all that stuff... so maybe an animated acapella-group is coming up next... not sure yet... ;) :)

woah i think this is called morphic resonance...or something like that....eg if a good idea is thought of/ discovered then you can't effectively put it back in the bottle....someone will come out with the results no matter where in the world! weird though.

i guess you could think positive about it....and get the other animators to come on board maybe making both ideas more commercial OR just not bother about opinion and just get it finished and in the bag....either way all work will come up for comparison...so grin and bare it....and get yourself a better job out of it!

good luck bud.

Or finish it and don't release it for 10 years. Then it'll be an artsy retrospective of a little-known tomato animation done by some pioneering German film students! Just kidding--I guess you'd fail the class....

not only the class, but my entire college-time would be down the hill :surprised :scream:  HE HE HE
that movie will be released no matter what. otherwise, i will have to move to newzealand without giving anybody my new adress so my family won't be able to find me ;)
