Hi :)
I am making an oldskool brawler similar to games like Golden Axe and Streets of Rage. I don't wanna just jump in and design the battle/movement engine without seeing and learning from what has been done (since I'll just go in the wrong direction :). Are there any good tutorials or ideas (links maybe) of good brawler engines or such? I'm specifically interested in how the enemies are done: how do they move, when do they decide to attack, how do they surround you in teams, when do they retreat, anything in that direction - basically the enemy (and ally) behaviour. How would I start about writing an engine like this? I'm having trouble finding anything. Also, the game will have two allies travelling with you in a party.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
I'm also checking the articles at Gamedev ..
Another example: Double Dragon
Thanks!
