T0MMY 01-03-2003, 05:29 AM Hey, could someone give me some hints (or links to examples/tutorials) on how i could create a torch flame, which i'm planing on using in a 5-10 frame loop animation
Searching google and this was the closest i could find to the type of flame i'm looking for...

if you need total realism then your best bet is simnply going ot be to get some real footage and composite it in. fire is notoriously difficult. however iif you must use cg then there are firstly a couple of plugins for after effects and secondly you can use volumetric lights to achieve your effect... have a check on jeremyw's site for volumetric light stuff

hope something there helps :)

you can use pyrocluster but be prepared for some render time and tweaking
on the off chance you could e-mail Janine who made that pyrocluster shot and ask for advice, you never know

Thanks for the replys, i wasnt really going for the realistic look though (still a newbie ;))
I had a little play with particles and got the 'cheap' effect i was looking for.
Some amazing stuff on that jeremyw.com site, i've bookmarked so i can have a better look later
thanks again
