Title: Yet another dull, sunny contemporary interior
Name: Jurek Rusin
Country: Poland
Software: (Other), CINEMA 4D, Photoshop

This was done mainly in ArchiCAD. Rendered i C4D: Sky, 5 area lights. 30 hours on my PB 1GHz. Another hour for postwork on PS. Please give me some advise and don't be too polite. Thanks for viewing.

its a good render but its not special for it to warrant a 30 hours render time ...unless its a very slow system ...also the whole space is empty , it is a good start ...maybe you can work on it more
thanks

A few crits that you might want to work on - much too strong light in the windows. You get a very big blowout where there is absolutely no detail to be seen. Also, the texture on the floor seems very saturated? The shine off the floor looks good though :) And the reflections work. I'm not convinced about the shadows, under the table they look better, but on this side of the table they almost can't be seen.

I feel like I've seen that particular chair and couch before somewhere. Are they yours?

The floor is much too shiny.. The books are okay, but the scene is pretty dull. Not really sure what you're going for here.

It has a lot of potential.

Right now it looks a bit overexposed and oversaturated. IMO the saturation is a big detracting factor. Details don't look detailed enough, the books for instance could use some more refined covers, right now they look like colored blocks.
Other things that may help, plants, an area rug, maybe a pillow or 2, a pair of shoes near the couch? Right now it looks like it isn't a lived in space.

Very good work just needs a little more to make it "Pop".

thanks for comments. i must say some of your crits apply to things that ive done on purpose (staration, overexposure, simplicity). Here is the previos version of the image IMO maybe better...
aha - the armchairs are LeCorbusieurs ;)
cheers!

With the exception of the blur the 2nd image is much better IMO.

It was on a 1Ghz pentium; with blurred reflections, soft shadows and area lights thats probably about right.

Second image is miles better! LC2's are cool chairs, keep them in but have another go at the lighting.

It looks really good. Something doesn't look exactly right about the table though. The wooden or material that the frame of it is made out of just seems to be missing something. Maybe it is soemthing with the texture or lighting. It almost feels like it should reflect a little more on the legs, at least if it is suppose to have a newer look to it. That is the only thing that catches my eye in that matter. The couch and chair look beautiful, and the wood flooring. Overall it is pretty dang good.

Thank you for being generous in that post! I think you're 100% right about the table material. Correcting that might help.

Jim, by PB I ment PowerBook, not Pentium. I must say this is kind of a weakeness of that machine that it renders really slowly. I guess that about 50% slower than my centrino 1.3.
