I got a wacom graphire for 100$ canadian, thats like 60-65USD they are possibly the best bang for the buck tablets out there, the graphire2 is USB, and only slightly more expensive, start off with a small one, mabey 4X5, if it suits your needs, and you feel like getting a bigger one, go for it, HOWEVER, they are exponentially more expensive.

definately go Wacom. Ive had one for years and I love it. Never had any problems with it. I think that they have a cheap one, $100 but its tiny(4x5) they also have some for $350 that are decent size(6x8). check it out, http://www.wacom.com
Most popular brand I believe. you gosta get a tablet...

I concur. unless you know you need one, go with the graphire. a reasonably sized intous is wicked expensive. although the new black intuous2 looks pretty cool:D

Wacom is definitely the way to go.
I have a 6x8 and I really like the size. Smaller it becomes more of a gadget.
So, if your are a good drawing artist and/or painter I would suggest to go straight to the 6x8. It's a really usefull tool. But if you don't draw that much the tiny one could be a good gizmo to play with.
If you can, try one first for a few hours to see if you like it ...

I use the Intuous A4 and swear by it, having used tablets for the last 7 years there is definately no living without them.
The small graphire tablets are great but stretch your buck and go Intuous, hunt on e-bay I saw a brand new A5 intuous for £100 normally £250 ish.
Its definately worth it, also stick with Wacom they are well ahead of they're competitors.
