Just got Messiah WS to use with Lightwave 7.5

I read in another thread a recommendation for point oven pro.

Now, I am just learning, but I was under the impression that Messiah to LW was not an issue.. it is typically a problem?

I didn't know I was going to have to buy another product :(

You don't have to buy another product! Let me say that now. I (and it might have been one of my threads!) recommend it as an efficient way to reduce scene overhead and keep things simple.

I've probably banged on about it enough now (no, I don't get a commission!) so over to someone else who uses it to sing its virtues!

Point oven opens a lot of doors - really an amazing program. And, at 99 usd it is a steal.

as I Recall, the latest version of Studio will export .mdd natively now, which can be read by LW already, through point oven lite. so... no, you dont have to get another app to get this alternate connection between lightwave and Messiah, it's already there.

Yup. Joe is right. Messiah now has "Native" .mdd import and export. Play around with DMorph. .mdd is one of the import/export options.

Not sure you even need point oven light? Doesn't LW come with MD Plug or another plugin which reads MDD's??

The only important difference is, that the LW mdd loader loads everything in memory and is very slow while PO uses the mdd in a streaming way, only reading the current frame and keeping memory overhead small and being much faster, especially for larger mdds.

The "Free" options are great for testing, but if you do more work with it, I recommend buying PO, especially if you are interested in transporting your stuff to Maya and Max too.
XSI 5.1 comes with the PO plugin for XSI included!

Cheers,

Thanks for the updates, it might be something to consider in the future.

RIght now as a hobbyist i have to pick my tools/toys carefully. I don't have revenue to offset them.
