I started 2d/3d artwork on the computer about a year and a half ago, i have a somewhat similar busy life like your short story in the about me section of your site >_< I am like your biggest fan now lol! I love your artwork! I swear I wana do matte paintings when I finish school and stuff,... some day.. maybe.. hopefuly ;_; You rock!! This is my favorite painting of yours http://henrik.cgcommunity.com/gallery/cgpainting/mountain_base.jpg it has the least visible on first sight stroke lines and is sci-fi/fantasy like yet realistic. I love it!

Simple incredible...speechless. I can't tell which of the pictures in your matte paintings section are paintings and which are photos, or if they are all photos. Amazing...I'm at such a loss for words to describe your talent! Your skills are really something to aspire to... I especially like your garlic painting--heh...

01-03-2003, 10:00 AM
Great work and very inspiring. :)
01-03-2003, 10:29 AM
Thank you all!! ^_^
sorry, edit: Also posted in the "Gallery/Finished work".
How I created te hangar? Hmm...I'd say the most crucial thing here was to separate the subtle values, combined with the strong sunlight.
I wanted everything to blend into one image, rather than separate the main objects with thebackground too much, so balancing this was a bit tricky. You might feel that you want to show more detail in the background, but then you lose depth...tricky.
I think the garlic is one of my favourites too.
This is a matte painting/concept painting I did recently. The idea was to create a temple within an interesting fantasy environment, quite like the stunning environments we've recently seen in Lotr. Think the yellow colors helps push this.
What I think is nice here, is the sense of mysticism and secrecy about this place. It's not too obtrusive(?)...rather a nice quiet place for the king and his people to rest...
I used some photographs, and some digital paint to complete this. I feel quite happy with the result. Tell me your thoughts, thank you. ~~

You're guestbook is dead, so I'll paste it in here:
This is awsome work you have on your website. You remind me of Dusso (biggest compliment I can give you), but a little rougher, yet more versatile.

jeroentje> Guestbook is up and running. I don't know why it was down today...btw, Dusso is great.
fred_bock> In terms of what? I use Adobe Photoshop 7, (still hate the brushes though). I'm on a Vaio laptop now, so hardware is above ok, but not amazing. If you're patient, anything hardware wise is good enough. Hardware is P4 1.6ghz, 512 MB RAM, 30 GB HD and a Wacom Intous A4, yeah the oldie.
I need to get me a desktop one soon...
Maximus> The first picture was done in one evening, maybe 1 or two hours. The mp took maybe 3 days.
kaktus> Henrik rocks! ;)
01-03-2003, 11:18 PM

01-04-2003, 02:09 AM
Very nice work :D i usually dont go in 2d forums but your stuff is just great...I was wondering how did you paint all those leaves in the forest picture?? Or did you use a photo backround? Im not familiar with 2d concepts so i might be missing something, but it seems extremely difficult to do all those little leaves by hand :)
01-04-2003, 07:37 AM

Hey again, I like the forest very much so, sets a great mood :D Wow I wish I had a session to like chat (over irc or something) with you, ask questions and stuff. I got a wacom intuos 9x12 but still waiting for stylus (hence can't draw/paint yet on it ;_;) I can't wait too! Oh and hmm CgTalk should have an IRC channel with live interviews of artists! That should be so much fun!

I'd like to say that this piece is just too good to be true! I luv it! I checked your work out as well, and I was amazed to see how talented you are. You've been added to my list of inspirations. I wanted to post a comment in your guestbook, but I got an "Internal Error 500" or sumthin. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see more from you!
love the subtlties of the colors and layers in the sky and buildings in the horizon. It's used really well.
