View Full Version : Still: Orc Trapjaw Helm
FatAssasin 01-02-2003, 08:05 PM Hey all. I just got this 1/4 scale model for Xmas and thought I'd try modelling it. The real deal can be seen at www.sideshowweta.com. I did this over a weekend and wanted to make it as photoreal as I could. The model and base were modeled in Max 5 using the poly type. The textures are pretty simple, one metal-type photo along with some alpha masks. I used two lights, one skylight for the ambient, and one area light with soft shadows for the light coming from the window. The backgound is a photo I shot of my desk at work.

I don't think the shadow coming from the window is strong enough but other than that you did a nice job ;)

Thanks for the feedback. Baal, I agree with you that the shadow looks kind of weak. But I placed the real object in the same location when I took the picture and that's how the shadow looked. I guess sometimes you need to do what looks right even if it's not exactly what you see in the real world.
Looks great, though it seems lop sided.
