View Full Version : saving selection of sub objects
rogue8 03-08-2002, 10:37 PM Hi, I'm a newbie with max. would youo be so kind to tell me if tnere is a way to save selection of sub-object like vertices. It takes me a lot of time to select only the vertices I want when the model gets complicated. Thank you!

Sure, just type a name in the named selection window while in sub obj mode. FYI, as soon as you change the vertex count, by by selection set.
This is what it looks like in max3

Thx a lot!
Cool website btw!
Glad you like, thank's for the hit.
BTW - face selections can easily be managed by using material ID's, drop a basic material on some faces as a temporary selection set, and then as you continue modeling (modifying the vertex count), you can still recall the selection via - select by material ID! In fact these can be converted to named sets once you are done with the model, and of course the ID's cleared for texturing.
