I like this Spidey more than the movie one ;) but make him bit brighter

Very Very cool... I agree with the others about lighting him up though.

And if you're still looking for comments on your final pencil sketch, I really suggest you darken the background elements to help separate spiderman from the rest of the image and give it a bit of contrast.

Keep it up,

I think Spiderman has always been my favorite super hero. But the thing I don't like the most about the character are the bright red and blue pajamas. I prefer when he's illustrated darker like what you've done here. The blues are nearly black and the reds are a deep maroon color. So, don't change the colors ... please!

You can still make him pop from the page by using the right colors in the sky (lighter) and the right highlights on the buildings here and there.

I'm not sure that I like the point on his forhead. I know it's a stylized look, but spidey's head always was nice and rounded. Maybe soften that up a bit so that it's not as noticable?

I love the pose and layout of this though. I'm looking forward to seeing it complete (so I can put it on my desktop :D ).

I love the vector version! I might be the only one, but i really do like the lighting. I think it adds mystery to it. I think one of the reasons it seems so dark though is because it is against a white background. If you put it against maybe a very desaturated blue or purple it will stand out a lot more. This is great though, i think you should do the background with vectors also!

 Excellent work there Hawk. I personally like the lighting, it kind of gives your spiderman a little more darkness/evil presence. I know he's supposed to be a good guy, but everyone has there days... again, truly great line work.

You won't cease to impress us, hawk! Although the gargoyle could use some cleaning up (lighting, at that), because its not too well defined in the sketch.

There are actually spiderman comic drawers who are not as good as you are.
Aren't you gonna do the background aswell?

I'm not sure that I like the point on his forhead. I know it's a stylized look, but spidey's head always was nice and rounded. Maybe soften that up a bit so that it's not as noticable?
I think that's ok. Sure, he looks abit more like he's a kid/teen. But he once was :)
Only note that I can add, is that the highlights in the comics tend to be a bit brighter, certainly in the last issues.
Awsome drawing Hawk!

ahhhhhhh i'm finally home from work!! wahoo! anyways. thanks for the comments you guys. i thought about the lighting. but i have to go with slacker and the rest. my idea was to make him a little dark and a little evil looking. i'm not much of a bright color tpye of person hehe..anyways here's is the final result.

what inspired me to come up with this style is from the manga version of the marvel comics.

hawk this is looking great! I love the brick wall behind him. For some reason i expected this to be a night time scene, i thought it fit the lighting better, or atleast dusk. But if you are staying with the daytime, i think the clouds are out of perspective, the bottom one in particular. They dont look far away for some reason, im not really sure how to explain it. Also, the sky usually gets darker as it goes up i believe. So maybe you should flip the gradient? It might make him look like hes even higher up.

There are some wierd things about the stone he is sitting on. THe shadows don't really look right. There are areas that are pitch black, and then places right next to them, facing the same direction that are a light grey. In particular the left eye looks like parts of it should be totally black (if not the whole thing) It also looks a bit strange to have such dark black shadows on such a bright sunny day.

Hope you don't mind my critiques, but i really really REALLY like this image and i want you to perfect it!

Hawk I love your style, very cool, its nice to see someone doing this kind of work in illustrator instead of photoshop. I have used the packages since the '88' version in the late 80's.

It rocks as does your site.
