View Full Version : how do I do boolean and get one solid geometry?
erwin1978 01-02-2003, 04:40 PM Two questions for you:
How can I do nurbs boolean subtraction on two objects and end up with one solid piece? At the moment I get separate pieces where the two geometries intersect.
Also, I've duplicated a cylinder and applied a simple material; how do I make the duplicates automatically acquire the same materials as I change it?

dont believe yu can simply do that with a setting. It would be easy to combine with polies tho :)
Otherwise,.. stitching heheheheheheheheheheh

Thats just the way nurbs geometry works with booleans.

when you do a nurbs boolean , it generates trim surfaces , which are problematic in maya. There are a couple ways to convert it back to regular surfaces , but i am not a nurbs expert so i'll give the stage to someone who works with nurbs.
for your second question , just select all the geometry you want to apply the material to than right click the shader in hypershade and pick "apply material to selection"
