View Full Version : mapping of a rope
KiboOst 01-02-2003, 04:01 PM Hi folks !
I'm trying to map a rope, and damn, this is a pain in the ** !!
I can get nice result, following curves etc of a renderable spline, but the problem is that if I move a vertice, then the mapping shrink accordingly to the vertice translation. This suck ! Any idea?
Thks

map it using the generated UV's not using a UVW modifier....if editable spline doesnt generate uv's then use a loft :)

Yeah actually I've tried with edit spline generated mapping. I don't want to use loft, as I will have a tons of ropes in my scene. Thks anyway ,-)

Maybe im misunderstanding you, but if you get a nice mapping with renderable spline couldnt you just use uvw unwrap to make sure it sticks on the right place?

If I fix the uvw with unwrap, it won't take the bend then. I remembered reading something on this in max1 or 2 books, but can't find any nice technics. Will try with lofts, but it wioll slow down my viewports :-((
