Title: The Ork
Name: Philipp Kratzer
Country: Austria
Software: CINEMA 4D, Photoshop

Hi folks!

This little guy is my latest personal work done for training and of course...for fun :)

I wanted to learn something new and decided to start a charakter. I've always been fascinated of them and now i wanted to do one too, although i've never done one before. Since i'm playing World of Warcraft at the moment, a ork came to my mind *G*. . So that was the challenge!!

The whole project started as a try but became much more after some hours. It really was fun to see this buddy look better and better after some time.

Some short information about how i worked:

I started out modelling the head, adding some hairs with HairDepartment (Plugin) and afterwards i did the armor. Next step was to switch to Bodypaint3D R2 for texturing. At this point i have to thank Helmut (sry i couldn't find his full name) from "dassiegel.de" for his awesome tutorial how to modell and textur an ork. I used his great tutorial as start and reference. Big thanks!! After i threw some lights in the scene i was ready to render. Took my about 10minutes at my dual opteron workstation.
At last i made some tweaks in PS and added the background.

Finally, this is what turned out.

Hope you guys like this pic!
Crits and comments are of course always welcome!
Let me know what you think about it ;)

cheers
Philipp

wow, beautiful textures and render...

The face bugs me a lot though. You may have been trying to push things towards a style you don't see on every orc but a lot of it doesn't work at all. The brows and cheek volumes look and feel really off. Also the mouth in particular is wrong, there should be creases by the corner of the mouth and it shouldn't be so pushed out into an 'O' face. -Study real faces and how the bones and musculature affect shapes and volumes and create creases and wrinkles.

again, beautiful textures.
