View Full Version : You know your a c4d geek when...
T0MMY 01-02-2003, 11:28 AM 1) when playin games with crap GFX you try pressing ctrl+R to try render it
2) when looking at objects in the real world you see them as a wire frame an wonder how many polys it has
3) you start giving pet names to each of your models you make
...not that i've done any of them
man i have to take a brake...

the 2nd and 3rd situation has become permanent in my life... i add something:
4) you bother all the day your brother to let you look at his eyes reflection and skin translucence
5) you say "we can meet tomorrow if you can, I'm really busy today" to a beautiful girl who told you to go out with her that night because you have to work on your model (i'm completely fool, i know that  )
6) you look at the water of the sea and you think "what kind of bump or displacement mapping can i use for that...? there's a lot of fresnel too..."
7) you look at the clouds in the sky and think "pyrocluster is too slow for that, it's better using a tiff"

8) You look at the world passing you by in a train and think to yourself, "Gee wizz this is all rendering in realtime, and with motion blur too!"

You look at an empty sidewalk and think, "wow, amazing attention to detail."

8) You're so happy that the camera never shows up in any reflective material like it does in the real world.
9) You try to get Aki's phone number and address (I found her web site at least. ).
10) You're thankful that other people are just as excited about 3D as you and that makes everything ok!
:bounce:

11) you spend more time in the virtual world, incl. web-forums about c4d than with your family
12) when you look in the mirror in the morning, you think 'damn, it seems, i added too many wrinkles to that face
13) you actually believe, you can get rid of the wrinkles by lowering the poly-count
--------
and a real-life-experience: one time, i worked all night at univerity, scanning images for a background and adjusting the color/brightness in photoshop. when i was on my way home, the sun was about to rise and i kept thinking 'hmmm, the sky seems to need more brightness and there is too much magenta in it' :surprised

14) when looking at objects in the real world you see them as reflection, refraction, bump and you know the people around you doesn't pay so much attention to that.
15) When you look the wind flowing in a forest and you know no 3d app should do an animation like that.

Wow all very true I'm not the only crazy man:beer:. I don't know why but ever since I started modelling I look at the world and really appricate how beautiful it is, and then I think how would I do that maybe if I just... Oh and go everton hehehe;)
Hahahahaa  .......I am guilty on the enviroment ones.
One of my worst is sketching with a pencil and believing for split second I only have to draw half as I can copy and paste for the other half, and make a curves adjustment, and then carry on sketching on a new layer :D

I keep looking for ctrl+z when I'm drawing on paper and I mess up.
however... I truly feel like a geek after I was talking about procedural textures and overlapping polygons outloud in a dream and my girlfriend was wondering what the heck I was talking about.
...It doesn't make an excellent impression when you dream about this stuff! It's not romantic at all to "da ladiez!" She still teases me to this day... atleast it wasnt a dream about lara croft... he he Tiggol' bitties!

16. You see a beatiful sunset and all you can think is: "The rendertime..."
19.you see objects blocked out in rough and slowly gain finite detail...he this one works for 2d artists as well
not to rain on any parades but this paticular thread isnt realy c4d specific:shrug:

Well i' geek too in the girlfriend part (i'm running home to do renders and shorten date hours :)))).
And yes i wonder how and object would look like in wire/mesh
I look at light and think how beautifull shadows it can create, and wonder how to them in c4d :)))))

Long time ago, think I even posted about it on the Postforum at the time,
I almost got beat up after being out barhopping with some friends.
What happened was that as I was walking toward my bus stop,
I started thinking about this animation I wanted to do,
and I saw this chick walking by :)
Off course I watched her closely, and then turned around as she passed to look at her from behind.
It's kinda scary, but all that went trough my mind at the time was studying her walk,
and then try to get a nice walkcycle going for my female char when I got home.
Unfortunately, neither the girl nor her boyfriend believed me when I explained myself,
and I just barely escaped without any serious harm.

20) When I was walking in a shiny summer and saw my black shadow on a road, I thought this might be a raytracing shadow.
21) While walking down a street, I'm observing how pedestrians walk, how their hairstyles look like, how the clothes of their dresses react to their walk...finally I stumble.
Render time?
I think in the future all displays are 3d and 3d objects can be shown as they are with no rendering. Maybe...

HA HA! I know what you mean. My wife still thinks I am wierd the way I stare at people talking to study their mouths. But I guess we are all freaks. ;)

I always have that when i look at someone and i see something like a nose thats not really straight or something else thats a little off, i see a wireframe and im trying to adjust the vertices just a little, to set those tiny things straight!
