alright guys!

just saving my seat for this one. i'll go for the full body, but take part by part (-not sure if it got enough time for the whole one, due to work). starting of with the torso.
this surely will be fun and hopefully very educational.
i'll be starting tomorrow.

edit: changed the title. after checking the amount of work coming my way, the next few weeks, i'll better just concentrate on one thing, which btw. will be more than enough:) -is this okay? -if so, could somebody tell me how to change the headline (-it's not yet been changed on the thread).

I can't see any obvious problems, but it's hard to tell this early.
THe only thing is that the right nipple is way too high.

hey Rasmus,
nice start, you should also look at the scanview from extreme angles to figure out the surface flow better.
for example, the navel region should be pushed inside more but softly.

04-24-2006, 02:35 PM
fx81: yearh! i will do. gotta look at that tonight. i'll be doing a zbrush pass, as soon as i've done with the base.

hope to get an update up tonight.

That's coming out great! You're hitting the anatomy well

Rod Seffen

YEs, it's looking good, but you should really do some renders to check it out with lghting. It can look a lot different.

thanks for the kind words guys.

oddity: yearh! i have thougt about it, and i'll think i'll be doinig some tonight.

hey all!

-small update modeling wise, and a few renders just to see it with propper lighting.
and as foreseen (thanks oddity):), there are loads of things to be done. some of em, will be done in silo ( -like re-touching the naval region) and the rest i'll save for zbrush.

hope you like em.

It's looking great, but you're having the same problems I ran into where some of the muscle mounds are looking like blobs not connected to anything, you really have to work to smooth them out and blend them in with the general topology.

rasmusW
04-28-2006, 01:41 PM
hey oddity!

thanks for the comment.
yearh! you are absolutely right, i'll hope to get it fixed for the next update.

Like oddity said, looks like you need to smooth some stuff, mainly the nipples, abs, and bellybutton area look pinching. Nice progress.

thanks for the reply brian.
-i'll be sure to check it out when i'll get a few hours to work on it. been quite busy the last few days and weekend.

I like the progress. I see there's a lil pinching in the navel region. Could be b/c of too many points residing in one spot, if you're using maya, try selecting those points and use the "Average Vertices" That should better things up a lil. Keep it coming.

finally!!!

-found some time to work on him...

binder: i use silo for the base-mesh modeling, but thanks for the crits...

alright, think i'll finished the base-mesh, now. next up... zbrushing:)

looking good man  From what I can see, his mid section ( abs and rib cage ) is a lil light mesh wise to fully capture the details. That was a trouble area for me, so just keep at it.

rasmusW
05-08-2006, 06:36 AM
yearh! i'll know what you mean but i'll think it's okay as a starting-point in zbrush.

-a little update as promised...
i've started working on his back, even though there a many things, still to be corrected on the front.
he is a bit "blowted" atm. but i think it's easier to smooth it out later on.
hope you like it.

It looks very good overall. My only crit is that the muscles seem like the were over done in some areas.

Rod Seffen
05-14-2006, 04:39 PM
I dont know what your level or experience in modeling is, so I can't judge it against your usual work, or know what to expect you to have achieved with this.
It's certainly competent work, not very accurate to the subject, but the anatomy in general terms is mostly correct, you just needed to be a lot more subtle to get the specific topology of David.

gaiXyn
05-14-2006, 07:36 PM
It's very GOOD!! I like it. Not completely like David ( but I can't talk cause neither is mine ) but for a male figure it's awesome man, nice job!!

rasmusW
05-15-2006, 06:18 AM
hey guys!

thanks for the crits and comments. highly appriciated.
my only intention with this one, was to enter a modelling challenge and finish (-with a nice model, of cause). i think you are right about the subtleness of the model. if i had more time i would have rendered a few pics directly from zbrush, think that one is a bit more accurate.
