Hi,

I'm trying to do the following:

Have a string of text follow a (3D) spiraling curve, so it "slithers" upwards. After that I want to explode the string of text into separate sets of letters randomly.

I was looking into doing this 3D, byt maybe just plain ol' 2.5D might do the trick as well.

Any suggestions, plugins to look at etc....

cheers,

rob

Expressions are probably your best bet, combined with text animator groups.

Here is a link to a tutorial at Creative Cow.

Some of what it does may help you, but the text layers are still flat planes.
I am writing a tutorial that creates "ribbon" text which flows smoothly through 3D space with each character maintaining its relationship to the text string but having an independent relationship to a 3D motion path. The text flows smoothly around curves, up and down slopes and trough changes in rotation. The random exploding characters can likely be added to this concept.
