thanks guys, heres the shot of the front.

About the chrome. i think your chrome is black because it is refelcting the black environment in your scene. Try placeing boxes that are reallly white around your car then it will reflect that. should work. if it still does it just explain ur scene to me more i should be able to help.
Thank again guys, i'll keep you all updated.

just one crit:the door fillet should be slightly less i think
slice56
04-22-2006, 06:17 PM
looks good so far
here are some crits:
- your door seems arent very precise. You arent seeing an actualy dug in edge there. Try making the valley in the seam deeper, and splitting alont the crest of your valley to constrain the highlights.
- why is there a roll bar on the interior of a lowrider?
Kruvi

Looks great, love the surfacing
The tires seem to be a bit too low though I have to say

04-22-2006, 09:10 PM
I agree with Slice56 : the door edges should be sharper. It's very visible from the front view. Top job, though.
Dukesy
04-23-2006, 01:29 AM
Thanks guys, i'll fix up the door seams and show you soon, yeah the roll bar..... i had it as the dukes of hazzard car but then i scrapped it and went for the low rider look. But yeah thanks for the comments guys, i'll post updates soon.
Thanks

what does everyone think

NEW TEST RENDER::::
http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/662/testcomplow12dz.jpg
I think the car looks really great. However, the new test render
with the scene does not look very good. I think you need to
spend a little more time making the car's environment look as
good as the car itself.
Dukesy

hey,
no worries xak, but yeah just did a quick dodgy scene to see how the reflections will work. i'll start working on the environment asap!! thanks

what year charger is this supposed to be?
Dukesy
04-23-2006, 07:12 AM
a 1970 charger R/T is what i used as blueprints, but then after the basic car was there i got rid of them and started my own stuff, to give it a unique look.
what ya think?
slice56
04-23-2006, 08:28 AM
it looks pretty close i guess, but the main thing that is messing with me is that there is something "off" with the headlights. Maybe they dont have enough contrast? Here is a pic....see if you can see what i mean..
http://www.sitnews.org/0702news/kruzers/70_chrysler_charger.JPG
also, your side mirror is way too huge. Check this pic out:

It's looking good, but you need to work on the a-pillar at the edge of the windscreen/front of the door. If you look at the reference it's pretty thin, but on the model it's quite wide.
Also it seems to be missing the 'coke-bottle' shape to the body and the z-shape where the top front of the door meets the front quarter panel.
Keep it up.

Two crits : your headlights seem like just a bitmap put on them. I found a very good video tutorial at www.3dpalace.com (http://www.3dpalace.com) . Very simple, very good results. You put a checker in the bump and refraction slots, play with UV tiling (U: 20 V:3), make the back part and lightbulb chrome.
The painted body part between the winshield and the front window : according to the pictures posted by Slice56, it seems much too large. Am I right ?

Ther rest is AWESOME!
keep up the good work.

**fixed a pillar (might have to adjust it abit more but i think the size is good) and door edge, also added door vent things.
ok what u think?? anybetter????

next i'll make the mirror abit smaller, ummm and fix the rims alittle, then i'll work on getting that "z" shape in the top of the door (and fix the back of the door where it goes to the body, nice smooth transition)
Thanks

looks like the hood details need to be worked on more, as well as the front chrome trim that wraps around the car. I attached an image so you can see waht I mean.
- the chrome trim around the front of yours is the right shape, but your has a hard beveled edge. on the real thing the bevel is MUCH softer and you can barely see it.
- the flar that goes up the middle of the hood on your car isnt as pronounced and continues into the chrome piece. on the real thing the flare ends before the chrome trim as well as continues further up the hood, all the way to the new grille you put in the bonnet ;)
- the shapes modeled into your car seem to be a little too rounded, especially along the width of the car. on the real thing, they do have rounded edges, but the lines in between the rounded edges are straight. i hope this makes sense lol

Heres a new render with some stuff that has been fixed ( i took out the door vents for now)
1.the Z in the door
2.hood flare fixed
3.more rounder chrome on front bumper
4.width of car is now sharper as in real life car
5.bigger wipers
6.fixed headlights alitte (cant see in this pic)
but yeah tell me what you think of the Z in the door! took forever!!! :)
and what do u think of the red :)

its looking so much better man! You should look at the first images and then look attehse latest ones. A HUGE DIFFERENCE! Only thing i notice now is the tires dont seem to have a sidewall. I know they are supposed to be low pro tires, but you might want to give them a little more of a sidewall. Keep it up!

i think i prefer the black...the red seems more racy.Just me personally.
The disc brakes may need some circular brushed effect to make em look real.
its all in the detail now.
FastForward
04-28-2006, 09:06 PM
I agree with both Slice56 and Karl168 : red is too racy for a LowRider, especially with the two stripes. If you keep Red in mind, at least try to get something darker, maybe with some very little metalflakes. About the tires, I had not noticed they were sooo low. since your first post I thought there were thin white sidewalls instead of rims. I think your should keep the same diameter, but with less rims and more tires. I'm sorry, English is not my language and it's a bit hard to explain what I mean, but try to see the external part of the rims as white sidewalls. what do you think ?
You are doing doing an impressive work. Keep it up !

the deisng is decent. Id mak the flames shorter and have them overlapping. give them more color detail too. Just some real simple highlights and shadows
like this maybe?
http://www.customautodesign.com/pradkepaint0029.jpg
lol the flames are cool in this pic IMO, but doesnt it look like hes puting them on a diesel? lol
also, what res is your flame texture? it seems lowres. maybe have it at least 1024x1024

Could you please tell me how you achieved that chrome effect? I've been messing around in max forever trying to get good results, and I can't. I'm pretty sure your using max, but not that sure, lol. But I would really appreciate it. By the way, the car is looking fking AMAZING!!!

I like the old rims more so than the new ones. The old ones had more of that "low rider" feel to them.
slice56
05-02-2006, 05:09 PM
the new rim/tire combo looks great
it depends on whether or not you are still going for the lowrider look. If you are going for more of a stock look, then you have it perfectly. If you are going lowrider, then you might want to give it some metallic green paint and throw some huge rims on it....
personally, I think this setup looks MUCH better than the previous one with those huge ass rims.

Ok ive decised i wanna make this a muscle car, not a low rider, so i'll be working on that instead!! yay!!! more fun i think.
I'll get some updates asap
but for now heres what the doors and interior will look like, i started last night and yeah thats about it gonna finish the dash and stuff later and make some latches for the doors and stuff. what you think?? ( i think the dash as to be bigger) maybe.
