Trying a different way to get a darker mood.
could use some advice if you guys have any pearls of wisdom.. still quite rough, but coming together slowly..
the title will be something like "Debut Taunt" - the image of an actor, or a dancer just about to take the stage, who hallucinates the crowd turning into demons. I was thinking something along the lines of Swan Lake as a performance..

The only advice I would usually give at this stage would be on concept or layout. Y'know, it's not always a good idea to have too much advice early on.
And so...
The concept is totally solid.
I'm not sure the layout works for me. Having the actor on side stage like that. I dunno. A bit early to say maybe.
Just a thought. Do you need the actor at all to get the idea across? Maybe you do, maybe you don't. The only problem I have with it is the way my eye is drawn to the middle.
Just a passing comment. It might sit a bit more balanced once the lighting is tweaked and such.

Thanks for the advice, I totally agree.
I've been struggling to find a place for the actor/singer/dancer..
An over the shoulder shot,
or the dancer being in the middle of the stage, mid ballet pose (in place of where the microphone now stands)
or possibly the whole shot being reflected in the eye of the person just about to take the stage (strengthens the point of a hallucination)
The other idea was to split this shot into two, this first bit being the right side, the left being an empty stage room, with clues of the actor/dancer/singer left in there, so it was almost like they were in the shadows, between the images.
what do you reckon? Does this make sense?
How can the hallucination be stated without resorting to putting the thing into a dream bubble?

Rethinking the actor position.. if I really need him or her.. just sorting out some background base details.

Still going quite slowly, and not sure about this character, but it's looking alot more balanced to me now.. Right side/crowd/bg detail still to go..

I was going to reverse engineer the Line Art, but considering it's not how I did this one, I thought honesty is the best policy. This is the line art I worked from, developing outwards from the crowd.

This was his only chance.
He knew he had it in him. If only one chord, one bar, or even just one note would resonate within one of those demons in the crowd, maybe they wouldn't pull him apart, limb from limb, dragging him in screaming, just like he saw all the others go.
He couldn't be sure any more where he was, or what was going on, but the scenes of torture he'd seen in this deranged talent quest made him sick.
"Either way," he thought to himself, as he turned up the volume knob to its maximum, "Now's the time to play."
