That's really some quality stuff and a wide range of styles!
My favourites are Morgan Freeman (so natural, even without textures) and the
painting of the guy and the girl. I would discard the caveman at the end, though.
it's not as good as the rest.
Good luck!
again, thank you guys :)
for the morgan freeman, well i have to do a lot on him to make him look like the real one, thats why i didn't write ne name on him for the reel, however it was quite fun to do him, as it was my first real zBrush work, the tool is really mighty but it has definitely some potential upwards ^^
thanks!

I can't believe so few people replied to this thread :(
Your work is awesome. I saw your reel when you first posted it here, but didn't post because I'm more of an animator :p
Then again, seeing how few posts you got, I must say your work is great!!! I know how it feels when people just increase view count rather than post count of your thread.

hey neox!
-i've a couple of times now and it's really great work.
the only thing i can come up with is, i think it's a shame that those beautiful are on black background. it looses some of the fine details, you've done.

WTF?! Plugged? Thank you!
FINALLY!!! You got some well deserved attention :D
First of all, thank you guys!
@gene: i'm not a stranger, you're just in the wrong places :P
@tcini: yes a litle bit, but i couldn't show all i've done on paraworld, it is just to much stuff
@abyss103: yes you are right, i tried several backgrounds, but black has one good thing to it, it's easy and fast to compress, so the video was small enough to post it here ;)
@Carsten: Hehe wer hätte es nach 2 Monaten gedacht? Ich war ganz überrascht, dass mich morgens auf einmal zig Leute im ICQ auf das Reel ansprachen :D
@3dgca: haha yeah that's great
thanks again guys :)
nice too see your reel on frontpage here nice stuff like always

Nice reel!
I think that the order of the elements is correct overall.
Ray Charles is your strongest piece.
I would suggest to make a bigger render of him
I can see the noise in the JPG in the first closeup.
Since it is the beginning of the demo-reel, that could help a lot!
The second character is also nice.
Nowadays in modelling reels it is best to pose the character.
Put the guy in a pose that represents his personality.
You can make him move a little bit.
That could demonstrate you also know a bit about rigging.
I can see something like that going on with the "El Zorro" character arm.
If you are worried about showing the complexity of the modelling of the army guy...
Just leave the wire shots in the standard pose, and rig a little bit the full textured pose.
I would change "El Zorro" to be shown after the army guy.
The weekest part you have in the demo-reel are the moving creatures.
They move in diagonal, and I cannot appreciate the rig neither the movement.
Make them run or move without compromising the appreciation of the movement.
The renders and other material has good pacing, and is shown nicely.
Wish you good luck in your future endevours:love:
@cesar: thanks for the critique :)
well first of all, i'm not a rigging artist or animator, so my reel should definitely not depend on things i can't provide, in first case i'm a modeller specialised in organics, after this i can do textures but as i'm not doing this too often at my current workplace i'm not sooo trained in that.
I knoiw that there are a lot of issues in that reel, but i had only my feetime to do this, i've not been at home for this so i had to work with what i prerendered at home, i couldn't fix a lot of the knows issues, and i had to finish it to get my applications done ;)
as for the ray charles image, i took the biggest resolution i had when i created the reel, this was this image, http://neox.gfx-scene.de/public/pictures/3d/final/tribute_to_a_genius_high.jpg as you see, i have noise in there and i wanted noise to be in there ;)
but yeah i scaled it a bit, but not more then 10% or something like this
to the moving creatures, well i was allowed to show some creatures from paraworld but only loops that already have been shown and have been rendered a while ago, i wanted to show some units so i took the loops and as i cut to the sound i had about 2 seconds per creature which was ok, because looping one short loop from 2 years back for more then this time didn't work that well ;)
and zorro was shown that late was because i had more time there, i wanted him to have more time then before so i took this part of the song to show him :)
however, thanks for the crit, i'll take care of these parts when i have the time to produce a better reel :)

Ok...First of all I would like to say that I really like your work.
After that I just have a couple of issues with the reel that are obviously suggestions but I thought you may have posted to get feedback.
If I was a recruiter looking at your reel I would have sat through almost eleven seconds of title before I got to see anything. I would suggest that you limit the title card to 5 seconds tops and most professional reels are 3 seconds for the title card; just enough to see the name and contact info.
The second issue: What are you applying for? If I had to look at a thousand reels a day and someone doesn't even state what job they are applying for I may not finish their reel. If you know you are a modeler don't keep it a secret.
Third: The way you present the shot breakdown in the end of the reel is a bit wierd. First, just state what you did. "Everthing" is good but especially state what your proud of...I.E. Modeling, texuring, animating, like so. There is nothing really wrong with where you put the shot breakdown either but it may be preferable to put the in the title safe under the frame as it plays, this makes things very clear; if one shot wows them they know exactly what you did...(In general of course considering all the work is yours) people just like it when you make their jobs easier
The work speaks for itself and it is very strong. I especailly like the camera work you used to display the models but the camera work on the animated models in the reel seems a bit quirky. I am not sure if you have control over this as somethimes we are stuck with the renders that the employer provides us and don't have access to scene files.
I hope this was constructive and helpfull and I am sure that you will be very prosperous.
well some of your issues can already be wiped off ^^
First of all, i't only here that i present my demoreel without a letter right next to it, when i'm appliying it's always clear what job i'm aiming for, because it's written in the front letter.
In case of the break down, i'll also add a better Breakdown to the DVD for application, it's just a matter of space i have in the demoreel, putting all the information i give in the breakdown into the frames would take a lot of space, i tried that and didn't like it, just because there wasn't much space left for the image ;)
as for the intro, well i cut the whole thing to the song so i took one with a short intro, i never liked demoreels which were totally independent from the sound, why should i add sound if it doesn't give anything to the reel, that's why i was bound to it a little bit, but you're right, shorter would be better.

At first I think you post in the wrong place. But this also have nice animation. I like both your awesome models and animation. Just the eye movement when the camera turn looks too fast (the one after ray charles), and I think it should dart not roll. May be it because of the download is kinda bad quality. Anyway, great stuff...:applause:
