That is SERIOUSLY freaky :surprised :surprised
I do think that your model and your textures do still need some work, but this is certainly a fine start!
Model-wise, I think that perhaps you should make him a little more gaunt, as he seems possibly a little too much on the fleshy side. Remember, his chief diet consists of scrappish food like fish, which means he won't have much meat on his bones. Male him skinnier ;)
Also, the colour in the textures, especially around the eyes, may be just a little too saturated... Creatures that live predominently in the dark generally have very pale, translucent, desaturated skin. I am not suggesting that you make his skin completely devoid of any colour, but perhaps you could tone some of the colours (the reds in particular) down just a little?

Well, if you consider this an evolution point somewhere between Smeagol and Gollum, I think its very good! Although he wouldn't be that evil looking so little into his "evolution". If your trying to recrete the final Gollum creature, I'd say stick with Leigh's suggestions and make him skinnier.
The green light on the rim is ok, except it would NEVER be as saturated and it wouldn't show up on his chin. If the light is indeed coming from the back lighting his edges, the chin wouldn't be lit as it furthest away and the rest of the body would be in the part of the light. If the light that gives the green tone to the chin is some sort of GI recreation, I suggest it affects his whole face in any case.

Strange as it may sound, there is something about your model that reminds me of the actor Malcom Macdowell :surprised

Nice,
Would not want to run into him at night in a dark ally.
That's render is beyond gollum....maybe it's the dark half?
Anyway, cool...very expresionistic.
peace,
Kane
