View Full Version : how can you make scales?

I want to make scales on select parts of my model, so what is the best way of going about that? I want some on the face, the neck, the tail and back, and probably scattered around the body and legs. I really have no idea where to start with something like that. and also, while i'm here, is there a way i can split this model (that i imported from lightwave) in zbrush to make different maps so that it isn't so overwhelming at a time? hey you could use projection master and then go over with inflate brush gnomon also has a good dvd detailing characters highly recommend! comes with a library of differnet alphas

Hi there...
If you're using LW for final rendering, you may want to consider using Sasquatch for the scales. There is a nice and detailed tutorial for doing scales with Sas, at Worley's site here (http://www.worley.com/TutFiles/TeskaDragon/index.html).

That is, if you're after that kind of scales for your model. If you are, then by using Sas, those scales can be rendered way faster, than the huge amount of displacement that would need for such a task.
