Illustration: Personalize 39 port-a-johns
a world wide call for culturally awareconceptual artists/Illustrators/Graphic Designers

Me - Magnus - and my two friends Petter Johansson and Fredrik öst have formed TCP - The Caravan project. TCP is a non-profit group of graphic designers. You can read all about us at our website: www.thecaravanproject.com (http://www.thecaravanproject.com/).

This Summer we have seen to that we have 100% creative freedom to decorate a Swedish music festival called The Emmaboda Festival; roughly 4000 visitors - http://www.myspace.com/emmabodafestival (http://www.myspace.com/emmabodafestival). As a part of the project we have put together a Illustration/Graphic Design Brief. It is basicly a world wide call for talented conceptual artists/Illustrators/Graphic Designers. Our primary goal is to show good quality design, from different individuals, from different parts of the world. We believe that design should be fun, so we hope to be able to show wity and humorous solutions. We support each and every artist on our website and we intend to put on an exhibition in Stockholm this autumn, to show every aspect of the project. Our goal is roughly 35-40 different Posters. At the moment we have 7 different Illustrators from Sweden, UK, USA and South Africa participating; Oscar Belin, Von Glitschka, Johan Lindgren, Daniel Sutherland, Malin Grön, Magnus Jansson and Doug.

Please Read our Brief below or visit our website and read the fully designed one: http://www.thecaravanproject.com/jkarlsson_givemesomething.pdf (http://www.thecaravanproject.com/jkarlsson_givemesomething.pdf)

Give Me Something

DEADLINE
1 July 2006

INTRODUCTION
Every festival has toilets. There’s only one problem though, they are all filthy and repulsive. Together, we are going to change that perception. Paying a visit to this year’s toilets will be a treat and an unforgettable experience. At this year’s Emmaboda Festival, toilets will have charm and personality, and most importantly, an identity. That’s were you come in my dear friend. We want you, earths most interesting and talented illustrator, to do what you are best at; to draw. We want to put together a group of illustrators that will produce state of the art illustrations. Note that this is a non-profit project so no one will get any cash but as a thank-you from The Caravan project the chosen artworks will be presented on the website and also be a part of an exhibition in Stockholm about the Emmaboda project, so that means plenty of exposure.

BRIEF
At this year’s festival, each and every toilet will have an A2 poster on its door with your illustration on it. Each toilet will be represented by a different Illustrator, all to get as much diversity as possible. Every toilet will then compete against each other to get as many people as possible to visit them. Basically each toilet is screaming for attention and wants people to give them as much shit and as much piss possible. Along all of this, an ongoing election will take place for people to vote for their favourite shit house.

Every poster will get attention from various ranges since there is often a long queue to the toilets. This enables very detailed artwork to be seen as the ones next in queue tend to just stand and stare at the toilet door as well as the ones further back has something to look forward to. Instead of just waiting to get closer to a filthy and disgusting festival toilet that some lardass just came out from with a smile they can at least enjoy the artworks.

Your response may be modest or raw, elegant or dirty. You decide! As far as choice of style, we put our trust in you. Be yourself. As said earlier, we want your unique personality and we want the toilets to show diversity within Illustration.

The illustrations will be viewed and discussed on the webpage as well to give you illustrators as much feedback and value out of this as possible.
