Render > render settings > output.The output window will allow you to set the size of your image before rendering from the drop down menu.You can select a normal output size such as 800 x 600 etc,or you can slect manual and have say 800 x 800.From there go to the save window and set the format you want ie tif,jpg etc,or you can also use multi pass which is a more advanced PSD output window,but if you are a beginner I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the save window before delving into the multi pass area.Once you have it sorted then you can check out multi pass :)
