Hello, I am a Maya user and fairly new to UV mapping. My question is this, is there a plug-in for Maya that assists or aids with the unwrapping of UV's to make for a decent layout in the UV Texture editor.

Thanks

All your UV mapping functions are found under the Polygon UVs menu. UV mapping in Maya is actually incredibly straightforward and simple. I don't use any plugins myself and I UV map in Maya on an almost daily basis at work.

Hi Leigh. you're also using Bodypint I seem to recall? I was wondering if you use the camera map and bake technique in Maya for face textures. It seems like BP's projection painting would allow a similar technique to work faster by removing the need for the camera setup and bake steps. Have you any experience or tips on that? Thanx

There is a new script called pelting tools 1.5.1 which for all intents and purposes appears to be excellent and rather streightforward. There is a thread in the maya forums on it and here is the site where you can download it and see the info/videos about it.

Also, on my site in the links section there is a vast assortment of links to sites, textures, tutorials etc which might be useful to you.
Glood luck!

Nah, for heads I always use cylindrical projections. I rarely use camera mapping. But hey, use whatever works for you :)
I do use Bodypaint a lot though, as no matter what projections you use, there are always seams to cover and Bodypaints projection painting rocks.
