View Full Version : keeping track of buffer numbers
sketchbook 04-17-2006, 11:53 PM i have been using object buffers on large scenes to isolate certain elements, but i have a hard time knowing which element has which buffer number and i don't know how to tell when one buffer number has been used or not without digging down through each element.
any ideas?
thanks

Drag each compositing tag to an xpresso expression, and then enable 'buffer a/b/c/etc' in groups (I suggest renaming your tags so they are easily identifiable). Buffer A enables object buffer 1 by default, B -2, C -3 and so on.
It's not great, but at least you can see all your tags at once, and which buffer they are using.

Damn... the saddest thing about that statement is that it actually is the most elegant solution to that situation. I was surprised to learn this for myself when I recently started dealing with lots of object buffers. I really hope an improvement to the management of this tool is introduced in the next major release. At the very least the buffers should be namable and those names should export with the file so PS or AE or whatever you are doing Post on will require much less set-up.
