View Full Version : How can I do a split screen composite?
jademcquade 04-16-2006, 11:26 AM Hi guys.
I am currently doing an animation project for my University final assessment. I would like to make a Split Screen effect, two Vertical windows, which will play different Avi files. I have never used Adobe After Effects before but everyone tells me I should use this program to do it.
Could anyone explain to me how I can do this.
Thanks.

Import your footage clips, select both and drag them onto the 'Create new composition' button in the porject window(3rd button rom the left). Check 'Single Composition' and click OK. This will create an new composition with the right settings for size, length, field order and pixel aspect. Move or mask the layers to the desired position vie the cursor keys ort by dragging with the mouse.

Thanks. I made my split screen composition which houses two Avi files of my 3D Renders. However the avi on the left seems to flash in a pulsating manner, although the original Avi file does not do this.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

I can see what could be the problem. The Avi that seems to be flashing is actually increases and decreasing in size slightly in a rhythm. I need to try and figure out how to stop this from happening.

Could be an error in interpreting the field settings of the footage worng. Be sure the import settings for the fields match the field order of your footage.

I have some footage I took with my camcorder of a TV set which sits in my room. I would like to import new footage and resize it to fit over the TV set so that it looks like it is playing on the TV.
Could this be done and if so what would I need to do?

I'd use corner pins on the news footage. Line up the corners with the corners of the tv screen and it should do the trick.
