hi, everybody!

i am so happy my pal jakyll told my about this site. after seeing all this fantastic artworks and this amazing cg-arts platform my old fire was about to burn again!

this challenge is really reanimating my drawings/paintings feelings.

i first thought it was a bit late for entering, but i still cant wait to see how far i get ;)

about my picture:

just started with some quick pencil sketches, and a bit colouring.
im quite not sure what comes out at the end, but definitely something with rocks and sky. ;)

Very well! In no case too late!
I see, which you make yourself very much thought over the composition.
And which you do not shrink from yourself to try different beginnings out.
I look forward to your work like a nail on a hammer!
Good idea with the edge of the pictures. Looks thereby like genuine water color.
Thus, still much fun with the Contest.
Read you from the horn on the fingertips do not hold to fire here one show without same!

I see, you pack it on at the root!

With first regard I thought, that should be a tree. With many roots.

But on the second view I recognized, which stands here someone on the shoulder somewhat. Something with thick veins at the neck and at the shoulders. Good idea. You uses the second view fully! Torn which you make there!

Are strained, as becomes with color.
Go on, Stumpf!

Lovely sketch / hatching - like the scale of the tree to the character - tho I can't quite tell where they are heading yet...

i like the picture so far a lot, but i find the decorative elments added in the corner quite distracting. It esepcially makes the bottom person really hard to read. But also, given that there's little other contrast on the edges, I find myself looking at them more than the picture itself.
Good luck with it!

thanks for the critique mike. your right, the decorative elements draw the focus to much from the picture. i wanted to create a more interesting feeling away from the black bottom. dont know how far i will get with that ornaments, maybe ill kick em later. and i kicked the bottom person. it just wanted to play around with a few placements that look interesting. i hope the next post will be an improvement ;)

i keep going. but still i have a little problem. in my opinion my journey isnt "beginning". if you know what i mean. i thing its already started. or in the "middle" of a journey. also i have to add more "epic" feeling to it. mmh... am i too strict?! ...or "kleinkarriert" ?

i shrunk and added some more people. also i put some blue light to the bottom. the two trees on the sides in the foreground should give the picture a feeling of more depth where the travellers coming from

Insanity!!! If I were a Wurzelsepp, I would stick the picture expressions and me on the embossment. So that all could see, who the true master of the ädrigen root is. Only sound and smoke in the face of the root is the celebrated people of the love on the way by space and time. I love your root!!!

Which text? I do not find, which you should write in text. The tendency in your work is grandios. I times about an old village dreamed, in which from the chimneys so thick smoke came, which humans played there with chess tears in the eyes got. I mean, the smoke from the dream have in the most distant sense which with your roots to do. The root of all strategy is very similar to chess.
Do you understand which I mean?

hanzen
05-23-2006, 04:55 PM
no. i dont know what you mean. chess is a good game. but not when you were three people.

Jakyll
05-23-2006, 05:52 PM
That is not good for your picture. You must understand which the sense is. Between your root composition and the strategically important list of the units.

It is not so difficult at all to understand. Take the farmers and take the first course. It is obvious, which your roots are to be equated with the farmers. From the depth Kraft, with that your picture comes itself regarding colors and composition as on a field. Each course can be the latter. Bring harmony in connection with your trunk. The trunk needs to suck the roots to the water. As chess and humans need.

But you are right. Not three pieces!

he hanzen? what is going on with your root? You have no more time to grow it! Post your final fast. I have a god feeling down of my. You stated at the beginning, which wants to draw a due tree. With many roots. And now? Now you drew it. Although you drew it for the Contest, you drew him for the Contest. Draw it! I think you will win. All is in it! Tree, peoples and water with a half ship. Perfect. Post faster then the postman do his post into the postfach.

hi,
this is my first challenge and also my first cg picture i've ever painted. during this event i have learned so much about brushes, photoshop shortcuts and other important things about painting on a computer ,without a dout, i just can call myself being a winner, yet for myself! the cg forums is what i was looking for a long time. here are so many people who give me power to do more that im just looking foreward to improve myself doing my next picture. :)

about my picture: i like the idea of letting the viewer decide for himself about whats going on in the picture. where are they coming from? what does the ship mean? whats about the guy in the ropes? i just wanted to create something athmosphearical to think about.

maybe my challenge isnt transferred ideal. but at the end when i compare mine to the winning one, i will see where my mistakes are and whats to attend to on the next challenge ;)

with kind regards,
jan

ps: in germany we say: there isnt a master fallen from the sky so far!
(but in germany we say it in german words ;) )
