View Full Version : Codec
Hamma 04-15-2006, 06:40 PM Hi, maybe you can help me...
I want to render an animation with scanline-renderer and cinepak-codec. Than when the Animation plays, it flickers. So I am sure that you know why? Maybe the wrong codec. Or you have an idea which codec is better. Thanks

"Flickering" can be caused by a billion things. More often it's a texture sampling problem.
Link to your file, and let us see the flickering in your animation.

I agree.
Though the codec sure isn't helping you. Personally, I would render to an image sequence. One of the big reasons, if your application happens to crash anywhere during the renders, your images are safe. You can resume where you left off.
Here i'm also going to put a plug in for the RPF format.
What compositing program are you using?
Wish you the best!

As avkid said use image sequence always for render and use Divx, MPEG 4, Xvid, Sorenson as rendering codec...cinepak gives you poor quality and big file size.
Read about more compression and codec here:
