dinamics in hair?

Can't quite say about max but for your hair to react and fall there need to be some kind of force or gravity just select the hair go to forces and then choose gravity if not you can always brush it down or use a lattice what ever kind of deformer you like

thanks...i was hoping like in maya where you apply the here and then just hit play and the hair begin to falls down acording to the gravity, stiffness and other settings..

you need to add a dynamics property to the hair. Create->dynamics

thanks...but the dynamics does work if i move the sphere around....but again if i just hit play nothing happens.....if i hit create-dynamics i just have a windows with settings like gravity, etc....but the dynamics still not move if i hit play

same just you have to put dynamics on the hair

thanks Leo and Kimaldis...yes i add a gracity force and it works...the only problem that i have now is that after i made that i can not longer use all the tools in the hair-modify menu..tools like brush for example...

is there any solution to this?

if you would like to use dynamics as a styling tool, simply after applying dinamics and your hair is settled down, hit Freeze
now you can continue in styling with standard tools

or if you want just turn dynamics off and style your hair, click on Style button in Hair panel, if you click this button again, dynamics will be active again

For dynamics to work on playback, you must have RT turned off. Dynamics need to be solved by the previous frame, and if you're playing back hair with the RT, its probably skipping frames which is why the dynamics isnt playing back.

thanks guys...softimage hair is wonderful, it has been said that is based on shave and haircut, but i will say that after using the shave and haircut that is in max 8 the one that comes in xsi feels like 5 versions ahead...in fact does not feel like shave and haicut at all.
