I am actually looking forward to watching this movie. Saw this 2 years ago at siggraph. I think if I remember correctly that Pixar directors were going to change several things about the movie. The animation isn't bad at all. Who is actually working on this movie right now? Circle 7 is out.

Is there a way to save the trailer to the HD? quicktime doesnt let me do it for some reason.

Yeap, and hopefully every other movie that has the Disney logo on it will either come from Pixar or Disney Feature..

Yes, I am working on the stereo development team, writing the tools to automate the stereo setup process. If you go to the main page (http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/index.html?dlink=robinsons) you will see a flash animation of the images FloydBishop posted. In the spirit of Easter, click for a special one. :)

The animation on the bad guy is some of the most amazing 3d animation work I think I've ever seen. But that's me.

The stylized, visual design looks very nice. The villain reminds me a little of Terry Thomas

Don't worry. Pixar will probably have some of their top talent offering good suggestions on the story.

Just to clarify something...

Pixar is not "changing" anything. The way things have always been run at Pixar, and is now how it's done at Disney, is that all of the creative people have input and make suggestions. But it is the final decision of the film's director who takes those suggestions and decides how he wants to use them, or not. So, any changes being made to MTR are done by the director, Steve Anderson. Story telling is a collaborative process that everyone takes part in. This is how Pixar has always opperated, and is now how things are being done at Disney. Everyone is working together to make the best movie possible. Starting at the story level.

I never implied Pixar was "changing" anything. I said they probably would offer suggestions (or notes) to make a smoother, more meaningful storyline. It would be up to the directors to either use them or not. In which case, I'm sure the director would use at least some of those suggestions.

IOW, the story won't suck like people are fearing.

I do beleive he said finally......

Just pointing that out to those who keep harping on the Incredibles.

As for this trailer.....yummy. Looks great to me. I can honestly say I am excited to see this now. Granted I will of course be making comparisons to the Incredibles.

After having worked on this movie and seen it progess, yo ustill see people gathered around the monitors at work "ooh-ing and aww-ing" at the shots that are coming out. I cannot WAIT to see this movie hit the big screen!

Rigging on it was fun as heck! We built a lot of flexibility into the rigs but the hyper-talented aniamtors at Disney really made them sing. Without a doubt the most "2D" movie done on the computer I have seen... but that's just me talking.

The coolest thing about Disney is that they really don't see a difference between the pencil and the pixel when it comes to animation. If the ywant the character to stretch twice its length or the legs to bend in a rounded arc to get the right pose... well, we just gotta get them that control in the rigs.

Really excited about this project!

I did not mean to come off harsh or imply that you were saying anything of the sort. This was something I meant to say earlier, but it just happened to come after your post. Nothing personal... I just wanted to correct the misconception that Pixar directors are changing this film. Changing no, offering creative ideas, yes.

Dez, I think we all want you guys at Disney to his this Picture out of the park :) It really does look fun and the animation seen so far looks incredible.

I'm curious, whats the atmosphere like at Burbank currently with everything that's been going on?

Good luck and cool stuff :)

For what it is worth (for all the young bloods in the industry)...

Pixar = Founded in 1986. Six feature films released to date.

Disney = Founded in 1923. Fourty Five animated films released to date.

Pixar is run on the same principles the Disney Studios have used for the beter part of 83 years. The Pixar of today would not exist without Disney, not the other way around.

watched again. this looks (and I hope it will be) disneys strongest CG film (or any film) in the last few years. To aaronholly, at Siggraph last year a few disney folks at the booth said you guys used maya to do your work. care to shed any light on the process you used to have such flexibility in building and using the rigs? Maybe, though not likely :-D, a little breakdown on how you did the rigs?

Without a doubt the most "2D" movie done on the computer I have seen

That sums it very well... I love how it looks, it somehow has the look of a classic Disney picture.

The rigging on Meet the Robinsons was done in Maya (as many of you saw at Siggraph) and the magic is not only in the flexibility of the rigs but most importantly what those incredibly talented animators do with the rigs we give them.

Rob, sorry for the shameless plug, but...

... I have spent the last year creating a DVD showcasing my own flavor of the "broken hierarchy" and "deformable rigging" techniques. I actually started the project while at R&H, finished one version but hated it so started all over again! Ouch! But I think it was worth it in the end.

As a matter of fact, a review should be coming soon on CGTalk. But you can get some comments on the forum section I started (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=3269660#post3269660).

Okay... so now for the shameless plug: Fahrenheit Digital (http://www.fahrenheitdigital.com) :D
