I'm trying to do a Snow field that deforms when a snowball rolls through it. Fortunately there's a Footprint tutorial for Wet Mud on the AW site which appears to use techniques that could work for Snow. Unfortunately, the tutorial doesn't work in practice, and nor do the principles transfer for the Snow field (it seems like it was written pre 4.5).

Thoughts perhaps? Specifically on their tutorial you can't apply the Air field to the shoes sole. Trying to transfer it to this snow field I created a NURBS plane, NURBS sphere, key framed the sphere moving through the plane. Made the NURBS plane a soft body, created air fields attached to both the plane and sphere. "This should work", I thought, but playback results in no movement of the sphere and a gaping hole appearing in the middle of the plane. Help would be appreciated!

there is no reason why it shouldn't work

the fact that it was written before 4.5 is irrelivant as the softbodies have remained the same

That's the effect I was pretty much aiming for, think I've got it now from looking at your example, so thanks very much. AW's tutorial asks that you connect the fields to the plane though, which destroys any animation within the scene, hence the problems. Still, looks like it's the effect I wanted, thanks again.

Now I wonder if this would work with a character plowing through snow.. :D
