View Full Version : Import animation & model to Director???
jdonnelly 04-15-2006, 12:05 AM I didn't see any sort of Macromedia Director forum or else I'd post there as well, but I was wondering if anyone happened to know what all you needed to do to export a model and an animation out of Maya?
I can get the model, textures and lighting out, but if I animate something and THEN try to export, the animation doesn't go with it.
I don't know a thing about Director which makes this even harder to figure out, but was just hoping that maybe one of you guys out there do.

Ah the old shockwave export.
That thing is really strange sometimes. You can have no luck what-so-ever when exporting sometimes, and with the exact same file instance you can get a working export.
Animations will work, and bones are also supported. I think IK is also supported though I may be mistaken. I remember fooling with it once but to tell you the truth I cannot remember the outcome (I think it worked).
If you plan on continuing with 3D in director, I recommend you visit > this (http://www.3dpi-director.com/) < web site and download 3DPI. It lets you organize your 3d stuff a lot easier.
I'm sorry if this did not anwser your question. I dont know what to say about your problem, unless you can give an example. I can try to help you to get it to work. There is very little if any documentation on 3D in Director. I have a > book (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0789729032/002-5495905-3188068?v=glance&n=283155) < that covers some of it, but it's very situational, meaning what works for the author might not necessarily be what you will need to get something done. It still is very helpful though to get you started.
