well its not the greatest thing ever but i do what i can, most of it is professional work so you are sorta limited by the client in those cases.. unfortunately i find myself drawn to the dreaded role of GENERALIST, jack of all trades master of none, the thought of putting together a whole reel of just models, animations, whatever, i cant make myself do it.. urgh.. enough excuses :)

available in divx (10 mb) (http://www.yenvalmar.com/commercial/rendered/animation/movies/demoreel2006_divx.avi)

and quicktime (20 mb) (http://www.yenvalmar.com/commercial/rendered/animation/movies/demoreel2006.mov)

shot list is on my website, i didnt do everything but i did more of it than you may think :)

comments appreciated, this is how i'm trying (and so far succeeding but theres always room at the top) to make a living so serious crits appreciated.

the quicktime is actually worse quality so if you can view divx get that one, i dont have the latest h264 codec yet :(

Hey, that's a pretty sweet reel. :D

I have a question, what is she doing on "“every little thing” music video," ? :)

exactly what it looks like. that was actually a commercial project, what can i say, it was definitely surreal when i got the breifing.. i was like.. this is really gonna be on mtv? "oh yeah well blur it out if we have to".. i guess its stylized enough they thought it was an ok idea, i didnt see the final cut but i hear they showed it on mtv2 so.. *shrug*.

i didnt put this on the reel but in some of the shots i did (that they asked for :) ) there was actually a disembodied low polygon phallus and close-up penetration. how often to do you actually get to download porn for your job :) :) or for that matter discuss the details of rigging for sex. there is a sexist comment that so and so girl was built for sex, but in this case its true, that character is rigged just to make creating that motion easy, but she couldnt, say, walk...

Nice. I think with the right connection you will do very well, but it will help to narrow your focus a bit for that connection, whoever it ends up being. I'm a generalist too so I know your pain, but I have had great success making a couple of different reels and sending them out to studios as just 'modeler', or just 'animator', etc. It's all about editing your stuff, and setting up some time to model turntables and other non-animator stuff for modeler positions. The talent overlap ends up being a bonus anyway as far as they're concerned. Best of luck, friend.

Also, consider moving to LA, San Francisco, or Vancouver to really immerse yourself in the 'scene'. Not that Seattle isn't happening in its own right, but you will do better to move to a more competitve city.
