Welcome aboard! You have some really lovely studies here so far! :) May I ask you, what is your art background and training?

Great to see your thread up!

Thank you Rebecca.
Well,i studied life drawing for 2 years at a small workshop in my hometown in Greece, then i went to an illustration college in Athens and studied illustration(among many things),and then continued my studies on illustration for one year at a college in Scotland.

I've been working for almost a year now as a children's book illustrator here in Athens.
Not much else to say,really.

Thanks Rebecca.
For the first one,i outlined some faces from photographs and then tried to draw the skulls(from memory)inside of them.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a235/polonoid/Anatomia/skull-study6.jpg
This one is from memory. It was suggested as an excersize from a book on anatomy by Walter Foster. In my humble opinion,it's not a very good book but i think it has some useful tips.

Polonoid,

You're welcome, and it's great to see more work! May I ask, is this work that you are doing currently? If so, it's great to see your speed! Nice studies, and it's really cool that you're doing these from memory. Keep up the good work!

Cheers, :)

Hi there Rebecca, thanks for you comments. You are always around, don't you?:)
Well, don't get impressed by my speed 'cause the first two posts were old stuff.I just can't post many drawings at the same time cause i'm on dial-up.Well next month hopefully i'll upgrade to DSL so i'll be able to post more.

Study of the pelvic i did this morning(not including the helmet)...

Polonoid,

Heh, yeah, you'll find I'm here quite a lot. :D Really beautiful drawing ~ what are you using as Reference?

DSL will definitely make a huge difference, especially when surfing such an image heavy site such as CGTalk. :D

LoTekK-Thanks.
Rebecca-Thanks.I'm using Walter Foster's series Anatomy. It's not a very good book(in my opinion)but i just want to "explore" it before i move to other books(such as Loomis).
Yea,my internet connection is slower than a turtle:(

Ok,off to bed(it's almost morning here).

Lovely. :) This probably looks better than the book!

It actually might be an interesting project for you to put together a sort of artistic digital book of anatomy stuff.

Lol,well i don't know if mine looks better(in the book the drawings are pen/ink-mine are pencil). For the time being i try to consentrate on being as accurate as i can and most of all to understand how the bones "work"with each part. This takes time,i know.I'm also trying to consentrate on values and linework.
You know all this time in art schools we never had a decent anatomy class and my teachers were very eager to move on to full figure studies. This led me(and my classmates)to draw figures without having an idea of the bone structure and offcourse it resulted at drawings with a lot of flaws. The good thing though is that we had a lot of life drawing classes. So now i'm determined to study the human figure(at first)as best as i can.I have other work as well and some times is really hard to find the time for personal studies, but i want to make atleast one anatomy study everyday.
Wish i had the mind to do that before i graduated...

Today i went to a park(near the famous Akropolis)to do some figure sketches. It's been ages since i did that.My shame. At first my hand's were "cold"but after some scribling i became more comfortable.
Lesson learned:I HAVE TO DO THIS EVERYDAY.
0.5b mechanical pencil on yellow ochre paper.

Rebecca-Thanks for the link!I haven't seen Fenchin's work before,very inspiring!

I've been really busy these past few days with my project, but hopefully i'll be finished until the end of the week so i'll have more time to devote to my studies.I've also started reading John Ruskin's "The Elements of Drawing".I have a great admiration of Ruskin's work(and even more on his thoughts about art).Wish i had read it before i started my college years.I'm not very excited about it right now and i don't alway's agree with what he says but it's an interesting read and i intent on finishing it.

Wow.

WOW!

shame on me for missing out on your thread for so long. Really inspiring, almost everyhitng in here.

The way you focus on the interior structures. The skeletals along with slight outlines to show how they influence the outer structures as in your beautiful hand studies.

The craftmanship in general. Absolutely stunning how accurate and detailed everything looks.

Your outside sketches of peoples poses are amazing. How much detail, flow and storytelling in such a short time.

Erm, lol, you realize I am being a little enthusiastic...:D

Signature: you copy the link to your thread (for example from the forum's overview page) and go to userCP->edit signature... you should be able to use the wysiwyg editor with all the icons above your text editing box. Among those icons is a world globe with a paperclip symbol.

You select the text that is to appear as a link in your signature.
You hit the globe icon button.
You paste the link into the input dialog box that pops up.
Done.

By looking at your "older sketches" and "more recent ones" I do see great progression. The colors, the way you control your brushstrokes, much better! Love your pencils drawings too! Great pencilwork (something I'm working on to improve).

I see you're doing all. Imagination works, studies, life drawings. Awesome to see that.

Keep up the inspirational work
