i tried moving the hypershade window to my second screen (which would be >really< convinient...) but the middle/right mouse buttons won't work any more (at least in hypershade - they still work on my first screen). is it possible that maya is simply not designed to work with dual screen setups?

yeah I think this is a problem for many people, but some one claim they got it work.

I recall reading in an Alias update some time ago that this issue was solved.

However it does not work for me (no matter what graphic drivers I use).

Then again, I have an X1900XTX so I'm not really a good reference :)

well i don't know about any update but i just tried installing the latest nvidia-drivers (i have a gt7800) - doesn't work for me :/

actually - the latest version causes the wellknown viewport errors occuring with nvidia-cards... the "latest" driver that doesn't cause such errors should be 77.77 (or at least i've read so in some thread here just 2 weeks or so ago) - funny thing as the newest version actually is 84.25. makes you wonder, doesn't it...

Hate to say it, but that's a WINDOWS problem.... Linux and Mac OS don't have that problem.

My suggestion: Switch OS's ;-)

Hi.
I'm using dual view with a 7800GT with driver 84.21 (last one) and everything is working perfectly.
Until the drivers before that one I used to have those viewport and hypershade problems everybody was complaining about, but not anymore.
Maybe it is the mouse driver or model you're using... Have you tried a different one? I'm using a Microsoft 3000, but DON'T get this... MMB is just to hard to press. Very uncomfortable.
Good luck!

thanks but... the latest driver IS 84.25 - it's just not available through nvidia.com because it's beta...
anyway, i've installed 84.21 just now but still nothing... and i use the probably most basic 3 button mouse that's out there => http://www.shopgenie.co.uk/photosProduits/741/ME0000211741_1.jpg

i have even installed mouse drivers (never done such a thing before - with such a mouse there's usually no need for drivers) but still nothing. and i don't really want to use another mouse model since i got used to this one over the years... worked with quite a few other models but i still think that this one feels best.

Hi,

Correct me if I'm wrong.... but as far as I am aware Maya do not support openGL on the second monitor IF you are using dual window mode. But a workaround to this is by using horizontal span instead of dual view. It worked.

Hope it helps

hm... i guess it would be worth a try but i often watch movies/tv on my second screen while working on the first and i think when i use horizontal span i'd have problems with full screen mode on my second screen. and switching back and forth between those two modes would cause a lot of chaos in my desktop icons i suppose...

but thanks a lot for the tip anyway, i guess it's the one closest to a solution and if i get really desperate i might even use that workaround ;)
