View Full Version : Ink Splatter effect
cgbub 04-14-2006, 05:25 AM Hi there,
How would you create a watery Ink Splatter effect? Like if we get a wet paint brush and we flick it against a piece of paper, the paint would splatter and drip.
Do we use a plug-in? or do we animate it manually (animating a mask)?
Doing it manually seems really time-consuming, but if that's the only way around it, I don't mind. After all, it takes hard work to see results.
Thanks!

There's a "blood" preset by Scott Frizzle which should pretty much give you what you need (if you have Particular).

Thanks Mylennium, but I don't have particular. Any other way I can try? Maybe using Fractal Noise or anything like that?

sadly I would have said the same thing as mylenium, but if trapcode is out of the question, how bout effets--> simulation--> has all kinds of plugins that could possibly simulate this (mr mercury maybe, i duno hvnt used them in a while), or this may sound farfetch but once i wanted to simulate kind of a liquid droping (sort of like if you were to put a heavier liquid into water, it would drop to the bottom slowly) so i filled an aquarium with water and drop all sorts of stuff in it lol, it was against a greenscreen which i just had to key out later, maybe you could just film yourself splating ink on a bleu or green sheet and boom, try not to film the hand though.

well, if it is a 2D splatter, u can use animated masks and a bit of beveling. maynot b photoreal, but wil b convincing i guess.
Hope tht help.
