I'm a big fan of the Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children movie (and I hope you guys will be soon too to like it).

I've haven't post in here for a long time so I decided to post a topic on how the skylight effect when cloud enters the "Dream world" of his mind.

I would like to know what type of materials, objects, shaders that I need to do this type of effect. Example images can be found below.

For the "apple ad" shots: just put in a white background, and use a "glow" filter in compositing.

For the atmosphere shots:
- The first one is unavailable because you're hotlinking.
- The second one is probably a matte painting with a glow filter.
- The third one is done with particles and glow filters in compositing.

Yeah, the first three links are what I talked about as the "apple ad" shots. The light bloom was almost certainly done in compositing, with a glow filter.

advent children is awesome. i live in miami and i picked it up a few months ago in tates comics.

Check out the Diffuse Glow plug-in from Richard Rosenman. It'll do exactly what you are seeing in those first images:

For the atmospheric effects, if you mean the clouds, then I would go with Maya fluids. For the Z depth effect (things in the distance get softer and less saturated), I would put a volume sphere around my camera that was the color you want the environmental haze to be. Play with the settings and you're all set. This can also be done in post, or by rendering a Z depth map and comping later.

Yeah guys have given you the right answers but I wanted to add that if you want to make the glowing effect in photoshop, all what you do is to duplicate your picture, change the laying mode to screen or Add, then aplly some Gaussian Bur.
