Title: The Chaos Bringer Cometh
Name: Johnne Tyson
Country: USA
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop

Unicron on his way to devour another helpless planet. This image was rendered in 3DSMax using the standard Scanline renderer. Textures were of an old motherboard colorized in Photoshop. Any and all comments are welcomed. Thank you.

Lol, Transformers reference.

Nice idea and good detail. Looks like the deathstar with a funky background.

The background is pretty disgusting, and the model needs to be lit up like when Unicron actually eats a planet, but other than that, the actual model looks very nice. Very creative use of textures.

Thanks for the sugguestions! I thought of lighting him up but then I thought that since he hasn't just eaten then he wouldn't be lit up but it's probably a more interesting concept. Think I'll try that out instead with some planet debris... hehhe

I like the use of your motherboard texture it really looks like its sci fi. Kind of reminds me of the borg :D

On a side note I think that the background detracts from the overall quality of the piece. Why dont you make a space map in photoshop with the nebula, stars, etc and texture it onto the inside of a sphere? Or you could use multiple procedural maps to get a better random effect and set it as the enviroment map with a spherical projection.

Thanks Alpha-Leader!!! I really liked the background but everyone else seems to hate it. LOL!! The background right now is made of only two procedural maps (Noise and Gradient Ramp) and are then projected with a spherical environment map which I think it noticeable especially near the bottom of the image where the stars start to stretch and the tentrils of gas are kind of either go to or coming from. There should be a new image with the corrected background up today. Thank again for the suggestions!!! You all rock!!!
