hi all!

i'm trying to simulate self-organizing structures and, of course, didn't make it so far! there are some very good resources on that topic but although i'm working with max for nearly 6 years now, this is a very hard one for me.
so if someone is interested in these things, i would appreciate every help for my approach!

what i'm currently trying, is to adapt a very handy script from Olivier Vandecasteele
link: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=278793&page=4&pp=15&highlight=structure
to make it animatable!

i have second resource to visualize what i'm heading for
link:http://www.abstract-codex.net/relations/index.html
this is an applet written in java compiled with "processing"

unfortunatly i'm only quite familiar with actionscript, so probably this is not the best start,
but only big goals give you a steep learning curve!

the basic functions should consist of:

1:creating the nodes with certain distances
2:finding neighbours of every node
3:connecting neighbour nodes with splines
- thats basically solved in Olivier Vandecasteele's script
4:moving the nodes by aligning them to their next neighbour
5:finding new neighbour relations
6:cutting old/building new connections

obviously that's more a research project than usable tool - as long as you don't try to
empathize the behaviour of realistic bee swarms, but for architectural design issues
self-organization is a very interresting subject.

i really hope anyone is willing to support me with this,

quirin
