View Full Version : How do I use the 'Help URL' inside the 'Form Editor'?
White Knight 04-13-2006, 10:02 AM How do I use the 'Help URL' inside the 'Form Editor'?
I tried pasting the URL to a gif-animation (describing a plugin) but I can't seem to get it to work.
This is what I entered after 'Help URL':
C:\Program Files\Luxology\modo\extra\scripts\WK-scripts\subpatchKeepSel.gif
Any help guys?

you could check the commands and scripts.pdf doc :)
"A help URL can optionally be included. This normal points to a help file on the local system, but can be any valid URL. When set, a “?” button will appear in the dialog, and clicking it will go to that URL.
dialog.helpURL “http://www.google.com”"
So, just make a website (html document) with you gif animation inside and use that url to the html doc for the help filed.
hope that helps,
regards, Daniel

You can also try something like "file://C:/Program Files/Luxology/modo/extra/scripts/WK-scripts/subpatchKeepSel.gif"; this is a properly-formatted URL, while the path you entered is a Windows file system path.
For some reason, OS X seems to like 3 /'s, so "file:///", which will also work on Windows.

Ah! After adding the "file://" in the beginning, it now works!
Just a note:
Nothing still happens when I press the 'Show help'-button within 'Forms Editor' (Bug?).
However, using 'Help>Activate help' and clicking on the button in question now works fine and opens the gif-animation!
Loads of thanks!
