View Full Version : Any 2d animation here?
gongze 04-13-2006, 05:57 AM Hi all,
I'm doing some research for 2d animation, traditional handdrawing animation will be best, but couldn't find many here (so many 3d ones ^^)
Anyone can post their 2d animation link here to share with everyone, thanks :)

Hello,
I do 2D animation, but honestly I have only one 100% traditional animation fragment
(it's in demoreel and 'Vyatka-Avtomat' piece)

Look over SFR75's viddies, especially the INDUSTRIAL one and play that back frame-by-frame and study it. He has some great stuff to examine. They aren't tutorials, but great to study.
I had issues finding sites that "taught" traditional (via paint program) animation, and didn't like the books offered to teach such. So, being a perfectionist, I thought it would be best to go with the flow and be original. The stuff you will find (in books) is what teaches EVERYONE. You need to learn by trial-n-error with this field if you wish to just start out (and not intend on going to school for it). If you want a particuliar style that you've seen (like Disney), then buy the books. As for online sources, it's tough. Best bet is venture in Wikipedia. That has the best links and information reguarding animatics and such that I've seen (courtesy of Roberto Ortiz for the linkage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Story_reel which involves Story Reels. Just venture from there. ;)).
I'm filming myself and using this as the layout that I will rotoscope to create the movement for a creature-of-sorts. It's just an experimentation and to get a grasp on what style I prefer (vector-like or sketched).
Best thing to know about this... learning how to draw. :arteest:
I wish I could've been of better help. I hope someone can best answer you, without having the "experimentation attitude" that I have.
**edit**
Perhaps this is best put in the WIP Animation forum?

Thanks for the replies guys~~ they are really helpful.
I'm working on an uni project, decided to use 2d animation to make a "multi-platform" story. It's about conjoined twins. I will post the processes later in the process forum and get some feedback!
